Thank-you so much to everyone who attended my Dad’s funeral today to pay their respects and support our family.

The turnout was incredible and we are so touched by the sheer volume of people who showed up, many of whom had travelled a fair distance to be there.

My mum, Jordan and I couldn’t have asked for a more fitting send-off for him and the service captured him perfectly.

We took Dad by our office one last time on the way to Largs and Lewis from AW Blair walked the hearse up Glebe Street. To see our full team suited and booted standing there side-by-side to honour him was beautiful and means more to me than I could ever put into words. My Dad would have loved that so much. 💔

Our collection today raised £897 and we will split this across different charities my Dad supported.

Thank-you all from the bottom of my heart for giving my Dad the send-off he deserved.

It is with tremendous sadness we announce the unexpected passing of our founder, leader and driving force behind our business, James Fisher.

For over 25 years my Dad worked as a Financial Adviser, looking after clients initially with the Co-op Insurance (CIS) and after being made redundant almost 15 years ago he began Financial Services Scotland, building it into what you see today along with his other business FSS Wealth & Pensions.

He loved his work and always viewed it as more of a calling than a job and at the centre of that was his love of meeting new people and looking after his clients, many of whom now feel like extended members of our family. He built our businesses based on the wonderful relationships he had with our clients and he set the standard for us all.

The outpouring of love, kind words, cards and flowers we’ve received over the last fortnight has been overwhelming and is testament to the impact he’s made on so many of you. Hearing so many wonderful stories of his generosity and unseen acts of kindness has brought so much comfort in what has been a truly difficult time. Thank-you.

We understand this news will come as a shock but want to provide reassurance that our businesses will continue as normal though with big shoes to fill and I hope I can continue making him proud and looking after you all as he always did.

For those wishing to pay their respects to my Dad his funeral arrangements are as follows:

Friday 27th February
10am
Clyde Coast & Garnock Valley Crematorium, A760 Largs, Kilbirnie, Dalry KA24 5LE
Followed by tea at the Lauriston Hotel, 15 South Crescent Rd, Ardrossan KA22 8EA

Family flowers only. A collection will be taken on the day which will be split between charities which were close to my Dad’s heart.

A webcast is also available for those unable to attend in person - please contact our office directly for details.

Today Demi and I attended our network’s 2026 kick off event in Glasgow - a great way to begin the year hearing from industry experts as well as getting an opportunity to meet with other advisers, lenders and protection providers.

Working in a fast-paced industry means it’s important to always be learning and improving our knowledge and understanding of the market as ultimately it helps us provide a better service to our clients.

I was also incredibly grateful (and mortified) to be recognised today for quality of business - a measure that reflects that I deliver excellent outcomes for my clients.

To be recognised as one of the best advisers in Scotland (from the biggest network in the UK) for the quality of what I do is incredible and i am chuffed to bits.

I saw this post on Female Invest this morning and it was a stark reminder that women have only legally been allowed to apply for a mortgage in their own name since the mid-70s after the S*x Discrimination act came into place and women finally gained the right to access financial products without a father, husband or guarantor.

Women only account for 33% of UK homeowners however the gap is closing and nowadays young women are twice as likely to buy a house on their own compared to men.

Being a woman in a male-dominated industry felt challenging when I started in banking and finance around 20 years ago but I’ve soon realised it’s actually one of my greatest strengths - I see things from a different perspective, I understand the challenges women face when it comes to the gender pay gap, the vulnerabilities and the often heavy workload when it comes to things like running a home and childcare which has helped shaped me into a better adviser when having mortgage discussions and particularly when thinking about family and mortgage protection.

So a shout out to all the women breaking barriers and closing the gap when it comes to home ownership, financial literacy and working in male-led industries. We’re forging new paths and creating opportunities for our daughters and granddaughters that our mothers and grandmothers didn’t have. 💪🏼

It is with profound sadness we share the passing of our dear friend and colleague Stuart McNair.

Stuart was not just a founding member of our team, but an unbelievably kind and warm presence who showed up with incredible wit, laughter and a never-ending stream of cakes and biscuits. Stuart was also a wonderful Financial Adviser and took great pride in looking after his clients, working with many of them for a number of decades. The kind words we’ve received from many of you already show how incredibly well thought of and valued Stuart was.

Stuart positively influenced the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing and working with him. His warmth, laughter and dedication will be deeply missed both professionally and personally.

We are grateful for all the kind messages we have received and know a number of you have asked for arrangement details and we will communicate these to those who request them directly.

We extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Stuart’s wife Shirley, his daughters Hazel, Ashleigh and Victoria and Stuart’s wider family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.

Happy Monday all. 🎉🙌🏼

We’ve had some truly superb outcomes for our clients achieved today including a mortgage offer issued by Nationwide in just 30 seconds!

Our client’s property was owned outright but he wanted to buy out the co-owner of the property and raise some funds to complete some home improvements at the same time. We discussed the best way to achieve this, looked at the costs and agreed a solution.

We applied for the mortgage this morning for the agreed amount and 30 seconds later the offer was issued meaning no lengthy delays for the client and being able to get his home improvements booked in with tradespeople.

Another happy client and a fab day in the office. 😊

Best of luck to all the wee ones returning to school today. I love seeing all their photos and lovely wee faces excited for the year ahead.

I can’t believe I’ve got a big P6 this year… feels like yesterday she was toddling off to nursery and now we’re into her penultimate year at primary school. Time goes so quickly. 💙
