It would have been my mum's 64th birthday today. She was the reason I quit my job and started up 2DVA. She was ill with cancer and sick of me feeling so down and negative about my job so told me to quit because it wasn't worth all the upset.

My parents didn't always direct my sister and I assertively through life, they let us make our own decisions as adults, but this time I was truly grateful for the direction my mum gave me.

Wow. Happy business birthday to me. 3 years old.

Easily enough to have not noticed this slipping by, seeing as I'm struggling to keep a grasp on what day of the week it is, let alone date.

Lots of achievements in 3 years, but my biggest one is expanding my network and meeting lots of brilliant people.

Stay with me on this one, it's not work related just a little life hack to maybe save you some money 💷

Did you know you are entitled to a full 12 months of Meerkat Movies and Meals if you take out a policy on the Compare the Market website 🤓

I, for example, took out a travel insurance policy for 1 days travel in the UK for a mighty cost of £1.10 😊

Meaning I only have to go to the cinema once in 12 months with a buddy and I've already made that money back 👍🏻

I do realise there are lots of restaurant offers out there that can give a relatively similar discount but the cinema one wins it for me because its soooooo expensive to go! 😭

There are a few T&Cs to adhere to, which are on the website. This is my 3rd year of doing this and I've never had a problem renewing ✅

It's quickly becoming my favourite day of the week. What a geek!

Today it's templates.

By investing a little admin time in advance you can set up a folder in your cloud/external storage/on your desktop full of template documents all ready to go. You just simply click open a template file, rename (and save) before adding in your content.

Setting up email templates in Outlook and Gmail can also save you a huge amount of time if you are forever replying to emails from a lot of people repeatedly about the same thing.

Just think of all that extra time you'll now have to focus on your true work!

I wanted to share this picture of my oldest, Dexter, who attended a Harry Potter theme night at Hitchin Library this evening ⚡

This kid is 8. He didn't know what to expect and didn't know anyone that was going but he was giddy with excitement to go. Why? He said he likes meeting new people that like the same things as him 😍

Wow. My heart exploded at his maturity 🎇

So next time you are feeling nervous about going to a networking event or co-working day, remember to be a little more Dexter 🏅

Keeping it clean. Your inbox that is 😏

Its good practise to clear out your inbox regularly, and only keep those unread emails as part of your to do list.

Unsubscribe to the nonsense (Groupon, Wowcher, eBay) ✅

Set up some folders to file away what is important ✅

Delete everything you don't need ✅

Opening up your inbox will be a lot less stressful, I promise.

Be strong, be brave 😁

Procrastination 🤯

We all do it. We all delay a task that doesn't completely fill us with joy, but has to be done.

My tip this week is a brilliant app called Cold Turkey.

Once you've set your cold turkey time on the app (from 1 to 60 minutes), it then completely blocks your phone from using anything (except calling the emergency services).

Watch my video and see me attempt to access my social media apps. Cold Turkey does not like. It gives you a last chance pop up before commiting to your time, and once this is up, sends a you nice little pat on the back for having no self control 😉

Feeling very lucky to have accompanied our school council members to the Houses of Parliament and Supreme Court today for a look around.

All 8 children were so well behaved and took a visit to a very busy London all in their stride.

So much history and beautiful architecture (that I sadly wasn't allowed to photograph).

Something simple and easy like scheduling an email to be sent the next morning, rather than at 11pm when you've finally got round to reading and responding to it, is a game changer.

This will give the illusion you are on the ball, you are only available during business hours and will help keep your working hours to manageable 20 (😜).
