We all know that sometimes it feels cheaper, quicker and easier to shop online or head to a big retail park. Convenience matters, especially when life is busy. But every time we choose to spend even a small amount with a local business, we help strengthen the place we live.
Local businesses are far more likely to keep money circulating within the community. They employ local people, use local suppliers, support local charities, sponsor sports teams and help keep our high streets alive. That means more jobs, more opportunities and more vibrant towns and villages for everyone.
When independent shops disappear, communities can lose much more than just places to buy things. We lose character, personal service, local knowledge and the sense of connection that comes from knowing the people behind the businesses we use every day.
