It was great to spend time at the Action with Communities in Rural England - ACRE Training Conference last week, connecting with County Advisors supporting village halls and community buildings across England.

It’s always valuable stepping away from the day to day to have proper conversations with those working so closely with local organisations. There was a real sense of collaboration throughout the event, and it was encouraging to see such strong engagement around how we can better support community groups together.

A few highlights:
• Exploring opportunities with Somerset on a tailored leaflet to help advisors clearly communicate our approach and available discounts
• Positive conversations with Surrey, Kent and Dorset about delivering more joint events and workshops
• Supporting Bedfordshire with queries around Trustees Indemnity cover
• Assisting Lincolnshire with a claims related query currently under review

Adam also delivered a session on one of the most important issues facing village halls - underinsurance of buildings - and the importance of keeping valuations up to date. It’s an area we unfortunately see too often, so it was great to share practical ways we can help, including our complimentary valuation service.

A really productive few days, and plenty to build on. We’re looking forward to continuing these conversations and supporting the important work happening across the community sector.

📍 Next week, we’ll be heading to Staffordshire to attend (and sponsor) the Action with Communities in Rural England - ACRE Village Hall Advisers Conference, the largest gathering of village hall advisers anywhere in the country.

This two day event brings together advisers, experts and sector partners who all share one goal: supporting the volunteers who keep our 10,000+ village halls open, safe and thriving.

We work closely with village hall advisers across the country, and events like this are so important. By being there in person we are able to have real, face to face conversations - we can build trusted relationships with advisers, understand what they’re seeing on the ground, and support them so that they can, in turn, offer even stronger support to halls in their counties.

That's at the heart of how we help people.

Yesterday Jade was delighted to attend the Surrey Community Action village hall event, meeting with village hall committees from across the county.

It was great to hear about their plans for the next 12 months and the changes taking place across community buildings, particularly where new charities are being set up to take on ownership. It was also a valuable opportunity to offer practical support as these organisations evolve and grow.

Yesterday, Adam attended the Gloucestershire Rural Community Council Community Buildings Network Event, meeting with village hall committees and wider charities from across the county.

It was great to have so many open, insightful conversations about the realities of running community buildings, and to offer practical support - helping committees sense check their cover, highlight potential gaps and better understand how their insurance works in practice. We’re looking forward to continuing those conversations over the coming weeks.

As part of the day, Adam also delivered a presentation focused on some of the insurance issues we see most often, including:

✅ The benefits of bespoke village hall insurance
✅ The risks of underinsurance and its impact on claims
✅ Common changes in risk that aren’t always disclosed
✅ How trustees indemnity insurance can support volunteers

As always, we’re happy to help anyone with questions about their insurance — no matter how big or small. Please don’t hesitate to contact us 📞 02380 269009 | 📧 [email protected]

🏛️🌿🎉 VILLAGE HALLS WEEK 2026 🎉🌿🏛️

Today is the launch of Action with Communities in Rural England - ACRE's Village Halls Week which will connect communities to health and wellbeing! We know that behind every village hall is a team of dedicated people making it all happen, and this week is all about recognising their hard work and all that they do for their communities.

📍 Where you’ll find us:

After Adam kicked off the celebrations in Hertfordshire last week, both he and Jade will be attending various events in Gloucestershire, Surrey and Essex. We are also supporting and have sent goodies up to events being held in Cambridgeshire and the Scottish Borders.

Online, tomorrow Adam will also be hosting a webinar for the ACRE networks in the East Midlands.

📲 Stay tuned!

We’ll also be sharing daily updates on social media - highlighting what we’re up to, offering useful insights, and sharing how the right insurance can support village hall committees and their volunteers.

We can’t wait to join in the fun! And remember, we are always here to help with any insurance questions that you may have. Big or small, current client or not, we are always happy to chat!

We were proud to sponsor and attend the CDAHerts Village Hall conference yesterday where Adam spent time talking to those in attendance about their insurance needs.

This is just the first of a long line of events that we are attending either in person or online over the coming weeks and we are really looking forward to meeting as many people out in the community as possible. It’s our aim to build meaningful relationships with the not for profit sector and delivering on our promise to be a trusted partner that can be relied upon.

Got a question in the meantime? Please get in touch!

🎙 Our second podcast with the Ethical Property Foundation is live!

This time, our director Jade sits down with Antonia Swinson, CEO of EPF, to talk about something we see far too often in the charity sector - underinsurance.

When budgets are tight, it can feel tempting to cut costs by reducing cover or relying on outdated valuations. But the risks can be huge, and many organisations don’t realise they’re exposed until a claim happens.

In this episode, we explore:

✅ How to tell if your charity might be underinsured
✅ Why accurate building and asset valuations matter so much
✅ The hidden pitfalls of going direct to insurers
✅ How a broker can help you spot gaps and support you when things go wrong
✅ What trustees can do to strike the right balance on cover and cost

If your charity is trying to save money, this conversation offers practical, straightforward guidance to help you protect your assets and make informed decisions.

▪️ Completed renovations or planning upgrades?
▪️ Got exciting events lined up for 2026?
▪️ Changed how you operate or introduced new volunteer activities?

Whether you’re already with us or insured elsewhere, we’ll review your policy with you and highlight any gaps. Insurance can feel daunting, but as specialists in community and charity cover, we’ll guide you through it step by step.

That way, you can focus on what matters most: making a difference in your community.
