Hello, with my rare new space fast approaching I thought I would reintroduce myself.

I began my journey 20 years ago home studying to get my qualification along-side my job in accounts for the NHS.

My Freelance Journey:
I have worked across a number of sectors; travel, carbon net zero, music, Property, therapy, construction, entertainment, health, beauty, training facilities, cafes to name a few. From job roles varying from Bookkeeping, Vat, CIS returns, software set ups, consultancy, self assessments, year end, Payroll, Head of Finance rolls, HR, General management of Teams both UK Based and Internationally and Managing Multi clients at anyone time. I have managed large teams and taking the lead on all aspects of business as 2nd in command under CEOs.

My Employment Journey, prior to freelancing;
Whilst working for the NHS I gathered many new skills working within a public company and handling large sums of money and invoices, with no room for error. After 8 years I decided it was time for me to grow my skill set and took a job working for a large construction as their bookkeeper, Payroll Manager and HR. On arrival, many adjustments were required and a complete revamp of 250 nominal accounts. I took the payroll of 90+ employees from weekly to monthly, and have huge knowledge of payroll procedures. This included pension, RTIs, P11D's, CSA Payments, Expenses, HMRC and anything and everything that comes with running Payroll for such a vast number of employees. I collated and prepared full accounts for end of year as well as Payroll Year end, monthly reconciliations, full sets of management accounts, to name just a few. Working within the Construction industry meant I learnt all things CIS related and most recently the troublesome and confusing Reverse Vat.

Having built another separate business up alongside (a Salon & Therapy business), I understand how smaller businesses work and run.
This ensures, no matter the business size I have the skills to help you; from self-assessments and quarterly business VAT Return to Small one person lead business and large limited companies.

I have a huge Excel knowledge base and have worked with numerous accounts packages including XERO, Quickbooks, Sage, Evolution, SBS and many more. But I am quick to pick up any new system you may have or simply work to spreadsheets, depending on your preference. I am flexible to your needs.

IS IT TIME TO OURSOURCE?

Good question. When you first started your business or went self employed, you probably tried to do as much as you could in-house. After all, if you could do it, then it would save you money, and while you’re still working to build up your client base you probably have the time to get it done. But as you get busier and your business gets bigger, that valuable bookkeeping time gets smaller and smaller, until suddenly you’re drowning in a pile of receipts and your accountant is getting annoyed because you haven’t submitted your books yet, so now your accounts will be late. Or, guess what you just don't like number or understand those letters that HMRC Keep sending you (Accounting lingo is a minefield 🥴).

Sound familiar? Then you’ve passed the ideal point of outsourcing. Now, it’s not a question, but a fact. You need to outsource. But let’s go back a little bit and look at what the signs might be that you’re getting close to this point. That way, you can recognise it and get your bookkeeping outsourced in time, saving you a lot of stress, hassle and apologetic pleading with an angry accountant (no one likes those!)

Hello

I am pleased to announce that from the end of May, I will finally be in a position to open my books to bookkeeping clients for a few hours a week. This will be on a first come first served basis, so if you are interested please drop me a message.
(This is aside from once a year self assessment clients.)

At the beginning of March I will be sending out contracts and arranging meetings for self assessments from April onwards. Can you put your name in the comments and the month to which you would like your self assessment completed, so I can work through the list.

🚨UPDATE🚨

Further notification has been sent by HMRC today, to advise this is being halted.

🚨WARNING🚨

After Hmrc s announcement today I wanted to highlight; the closure of the phone lines for 6 months.

Services effected from 8th April till 30th September:

The self-assessment helpline will be closed for six months of the year, and only deal with priority cases for the rest

The VAT helpline will only be open for five business days every month ahead of the deadline for filing VAT returns

The PAYE helpline will no longer take calls from customers relating to refunds

Taxpayers seeking help with self-assessment will need to use online services from 8 April to 30 September.
