To mark , we’ve been busy potting up a selection of bee-friendly plants from our Ecology gardens 🌼🐝

These have been gifted to Greatwood Community Nursery & Primary School in Skipton to support their Eco Week and help their school bee hive continue to thrive. 💛

Featuring a beautiful mix of poppy, lemon balm, comfrey and other nectar-rich favourites, all chosen to give our pollinators plenty to enjoy.

Supporting our local hedgehogs 🦔💚

With hedgehog populations under pressure, we actively manage our grounds and gardens to give them the best chance to thrive. From log and leaf piles to dead hedges, wild areas, and two purpose-built hedgehog houses, we’re creating safe, natural habitats for them.

We’ve also added a small pond for drinking water and avoid anything that could harm them. No plastic netting, pesticides, or harmful weedkillers. Every small action helps 🌿

Today we’re celebrating 100 years of wonder, wisdom and passion for our planet 🌍

Sir David Attenborough has inspired us all to protect the natural world, a belief at the heart of Ecology.

We named our HQ’s central space after him: The Attenborough Room.

About 20 years ago, our members rolled up their sleeves to help us build it using sustainable, “non-standard” methods: straw bale walls, sheep’s wool insulation, and breathable lime render.

Today, it’s where we meet, overlooking our permaculture garden. It’s a daily reminder of why we do what we do.

Happy Birthday, Sir David 💚
