Livingway snaps up Upperbanks development for BTR

Upperbanks, a new high quality apartment development in Rochdale town centre, has been acquired from Rochdale Borough Council, by Manchester-based Build to Rent operator, Livingway. CBRE advised Rochdale Borough Council on the deal. The council and Willmott Dixon are delivering the development.

Acquired from Rochdale Borough Council, Livingway snaps up Upperbanks for a BTR development, as the scheme nears completion.

The £140m project is being delivered by Glenbrook and backed by Legal & General following last month’s announcement of what is Leeds’ largest build-to-rent funding deal and the pair’s first venture together.

Whitehall Riverside represents Glenbrook’s first residential scheme in Leeds with a further 618-home development to come forward at Kirkstall Road later this year.

Q1 2023 sees record levels of investment into SFH Build to Rent, the latest data from CBRE shows.

Despite the single-family housing Build to Rent (SFH BTR) sector remaining in the early stages of its evolution when compared to the more mature multifamily market, interest and support from traditional and Build to Rent developers and institutional investors means that a further £8bn of unspent investment is available to be deployed by leading single family housing investors over the next three to five years.

Q1 2023 SFH BTR investment volumes surpass previous years’ total, according to the 2023 Single Family Housing Report.
