50 years of supporting our local community

We’re less than one week away from celebrating 50 years of R K Henshall.

Many things have changed over the past five decades, but one thing has remained constant: our commitment to the local community.

As we prepare to celebrate this milestone, we wanted to take a look back at some of the events and organisations that we’ve been proud to support over the last few months.

For over 50 years, R K Henshall has been proud to support several local sports teams and the impact they have in our community. One of these teams is Elworth Cricket Club.

Earlier this month, our team was invited down to Elworth’s match against Bagnall Norton. We spent a great afternoon cheering Elworth on and seeing first-hand the passion that the team has for cricket and their local community.

And talk about ending the season on a high! Following their final match against Norton-in-Hales, Elworth has been promoted to the Premier A Divisions of the North Staffs and South Cheshire League.

It’s fantastic to see a lovely, community club achieving great things. We’d like to congratulate the team on this huge achievement and wish them the very best for next season.

Did you know that 43% of businesses (approximately 612,000), reported having cyber security breaches in the last 12 months? (Cyber Security Breaches Survey, 2026). We do, thanks to the North West Cyber Resilience Centre!

This morning, we hosted our Cyber Awareness Event, with presentations from The Cyber Resilience Centre for the North West, Cheshire Police, North West Regional Organised Crime Unit and Chubb.

We invited a group of our clients and our staff to join us at Sandbach Rugby Club this morning. Alongside the presentations, the Organised Crime Unit ran an immersive table-top escape room, with teams battling to stop a cyber attacker in their tracks. It was an insightful, team-building activity, that demonstrated how a cyber incident can unfold.

A big thank you to the organisations who presented for us and to Sandbach RUFC for the use of their facilities.

Our team had a great day at Crewe Business Expo yesterday.

It was another fantastic event by Cheshire Business Exhibitions.

We met lots of local businesses, both attending and exhibiting, and caught up with some familiar faces too.

What a difference eight months makes

Last December, members of the R K Henshall team rolled up their sleeves and picked up paintbrushes to help a local charity give their new home a new look. Fast forward eight months, and the team were able to see the newly refurbished space in its full glory at the SCB (Supported Community Business) open day.

Many of our team chose SCB for their Everywhen volunteering day because of the incredible work they do for the community. Based in Crewe, SCB helps adults with additional needs to live more independent lives – gaining new skills, new friends, and work experience.

The open day is an important event for the charity, where the whole community is welcome to learn more about the life-changing work that happens there every day. Having played a small part in preparing the building ahead of the move, it was so rewarding to return and see the finished space in action.

We were given a tour by Zach, who showed us all the different stations on the ground floor and explained what tasks were being carried out. Zach was kind enough to let us have a go at one of the activities ourselves, and patiently guided us through the box-building process, so we could make our own.

Throughout the tour, we were continually taken aback by the remarkable transformation. When we volunteered in December, the upper floor was still very much a work in progress. Now, it’s a welcoming social space and lunch area, where trainees can learn new skills, work towards ASDAN qualifications, and spend time together.

We were also treated to a series of presentations given by the trainees. They spoke on a range of subjects they were passionate about, and showed the communication and confidence skills they’ve built at SCB. We learned so much, and their enthusiasm and willingness to step in front of a room full of people was truly inspiring.

It was a real privilege to see the impact SCB has on our community, and the small part we played in making the charity’s new home so welcoming.

As we continue celebrating R K Henshall’s 50th anniversary, we’d like to say a big thank you to SCB for welcoming us back and making our community a better place to live.

We held another successful R K Henshall Golf Day at Crewe Golf Club this June! This year was an extra special event, as 2026 marks our 50th anniversary of operating as a business. The sun came out for the occasion, on what was a contender for our hottest golf day yet.

We had a fantastic day of golfing and a lovely evening meal, with £680 raised for our chosen charities. The Patryk Milner Memorial Fund and their Run4Patryk events are a cause that is close to us and many of our staff, in our local Sandbach community. Lupus UK is a charity that we have supported for many years, after we lost a previous staff member to the illness.

Thank you to Crewe Golf Club for hosting us and to our clients who joined us on the day.
