At R&M and KWIKHAUS, we believe the foundation of every strong community begins at home around nature.
Not just a structure built from bricks, timber, steel or MMC systems - but a place of safety, wellbeing, belonging for family life.
The sanctity of the home is the very first thing we think about when designing and delivering new places for people to live. Every decision we make is shaped around how homes will support day-to-day life, future generations and the wider environment & community around them.
Good development should never feel forced onto an area.
The best new homes are the ones that feel like they have always belonged there. Homes that respect local heritage, streetscapes, nature, scale and community identity - while still embracing innovation, sustainability and modern methods of construction.
Nature and wildlife must also remain part of that story.
Too often, development and ecology are seen as opposing forces. We believe they should work together in balance.
At R&M and KWIKHAUS, we actively look at how our homes and schemes can protect, restore and enhance the natural environment around them,not simply comply with minimum standards.
A good example of this is our South Derbyshire scheme, where by our own choice and initiative we integrated principles aligned with Build with Nature to help strengthen biodiversity, natural habitats and ecological connectivity throughout the development.
This approach included consideration of:
* Native planting and biodiversity enhancement
* Wildlife corridors and habitat creation
* Pollinator-friendly landscaping for bees and insects
* Green spaces that improve wellbeing for residents
* Sustainable drainage and water-sensitive design
* Retaining and enhancing natural features where possible
* Long-term ecological balance between built and natural environments
These measures are not simply planning exercises or “tick-box” obligations to us.
They are part of creating healthier and more sustainable communities for both people and wildlife alike.
We believe successful developments should contribute positively to the natural equilibrium of an area - helping flora, fauna and communities coexist together for generations to come.
Alongside this, we continue to focus on:
* Whole life carbon assessments
* Ethical and responsible procurement
* Low embodied carbon materials
* Fabric-first energy performance
* Social value and local employment opportunities
* Inclusive and healthy living environments
* Homes adaptable for changing family needs over time
True regeneration is not simply about building homes.
It is about creating places where people, families, nature and communities can all thrive together.
That is the ethos behind every R&M and KWIKHAUS project.
Building homes with purpose.
Designing communities with care.
Creating places people are proud to call home.
