📈Mortgage Rate Update
With escalation in the Middle East and volatility in oil markets, swap rates have increased this week.
Swap rates influence how lenders price fixed mortgages, so even without a Bank of England Base Rate change, mortgage rates can still move.
Over the past few days, expectations of an early Base Rate reduction have reduced significantly. That shift is already feeding into lender pricing.
What this means:
• We may not see dramatic changes overnight
• Lenders can reprice quickly as funding is allocated
• Waiting for further reductions could carry risk
I’m not expecting drastic jumps, but I also wouldn’t advise delaying applications in the hope of significant drops right now.
If you have a rate review due, an application ready to submit, or you’re planning a move this year, now is a good time to review your position.
