💭 Could your loved ones face both Inheritance Tax and Income Tax on inherited pension wealth?
From 6 April 2027, most unused pension funds and pension death benefits will be brought within the scope of Inheritance Tax.
Depending on the circumstances, beneficiaries may also be liable for Income Tax when they access inherited pension benefits. However, the same value should not be subject to both taxes, with provisions in place to account for Inheritance Tax when calculating taxable pension income.
These changes could affect how much you’re able to pass on to loved ones, making pension and estate planning an increasingly important part of preparing for the future.
Understanding the rules and exploring your options now could help you make informed decisions about your financial plans.
