We're incredibly proud to have nominated South Snowdonia Search and Rescue Team to receive a donation of £7,899 from NFU Mutual's Agency Giving Fund, helping to support the vital life-saving services they provide across our local communities.
Recently, we had the privilege of visiting the team at their base in Trawsfynydd, presenting the cheque and spending time with some of the volunteers to learn more about the incredible work they carry out every day.
During the visit, we were shown some of the specialist rescue equipment used during search operations and emergency callouts, that our donation will help to fund. We were also invited to sit in on part of the team's meeting, which provided a valuable insight into the remarkable level of knowledge, care and passion shown by the volunteers. Hearing about the training, planning and commitment involved in keeping people safe in our local area was truly inspiring.
One message that particularly resonated with us is that each search and rescue team operates as its own independent charity, relying on local fundraising and community support to continue delivering these essential services.
We're honoured to play a small part in supporting their mission and the remarkable difference they make to so many lives. If you'd like to learn more about their work, we'd highly recommend watching SOS: Extreme Rescues on BBC iPlayer, where South Snowdonia volunteers feature.
