It's that time of year again, the 2021/22 tax year has ended.

HMRC have announced that there will be no late filing penalties for those who file online by 28 February 2022.

As well as this they have confirmed there will be no late payment penalties for those who pay the tax due in full or set up a payment plan by 1 April 2022.

The Time to Pay options are still available to assist tax payers. Once their 2020-21 tax return has been filed they can set up an online payment plan to spread Self Assessment bills of up to £30,000. These can be paid in installments which last no longer than 12 months.

The government has announced a series of new financial measures to help businesses who are struggling due to the latest covid-19 related issues.

Hospitality and leisure businesses will be able to apply for cash grants of up to £6,000 per premises. These will be administered by local councils.
The Statutory Sick Pay Rebate Scheme is coming back so businesses with less than 250 employees can claim money to cover sick pay for employees affected by Covid.
Finally, businesses struggling outside leisure and hospitality can apply to local councils for a different grant under the Additional Restrictions Grant.
