Aseară am purtat roz. 🩷 Pentru clienții pe care i-am pierdut din cauza cancerului. Pentru oamenii dragi care trec acum prin această boală. Pentru toate familiile ale căror vieți s-au schimbat odată cu un diagnostic.

Ne-am adunat, am împărtășit povești și am ascultat. Am aplaudat cu bucurie pentru cei care au trecut cu bine prin tratament și am avut lacrimi în ochi ascultând suferința celor care încă luptă.

Alături de mine au fost două colege din echipa mea, Oana Livadaru și Mariana Toader. Împreună am reprezentat Shield Financial la un eveniment al comunității românești în care am simțit cât de mult contează să fim aproape unii de ceilalți.

În munca noastră, cunoaștem oameni, familii și povești care ne rămân în suflet. Iar unele pierderi dor mult după ultima conversație.

Mulțumim, Cati Dragostin Chirică, pentru că organizezi astfel de evenimente de conștientizare a cancerului și pentru că aduci oamenii împreună, oferindu-le un loc în care să vorbească, să fie ascultați și să găsească sprijin. 🩷

Un gând bun pentru cei care trec prin boală, pentru cei care le sunt alături și pentru cei care duc dorul cuiva drag.

„Nu am de gând să mor. De ce mi-aș face testament?” 🤍

Niciunul dintre noi nu își face planuri să lipsească de lângă copii. Dar, ca părinți, avem responsabilitatea să ne gândim și la viitorul lor dacă viața nu urmează planul nostru.

Le alegem școala, le pregătim mesele și ne asigurăm că ajung acasă în siguranță.

Dar ne-am gândit cine i-ar îngriji dacă noi nu am mai fi?

Cu cine ar locui? Cine le-ar cunoaște obiceiurile, valorile și nevoile? Ai discutat cu persoana căreia i-ai încredința această responsabilitate?

Desemnarea unui tutore („legal guardian”) merită aceeași grijă ca toate celelalte alegeri importante pentru copilul tău. Nu lăsa această discuție mereu pentru „mai târziu”.

Un testament este și un gest de iubire pentru cei care depind de tine. 💛

Speaking in front of people has never been easy for me.

You can know your subject, have years of experience and still feel nervous when everyone turns their attention to you.

Teaching adds another responsibility: making what you know clear enough for someone else to use.

Something that feels simple to you might be completely new to the person sitting in front of you. You have to slow down, listen, explain differently and make space for questions.

But then someone says, “Now I understand,” or leaves with the confidence to take their next step. That makes the preparation and nerves worthwhile.

Through our Business On The Heels workshops, I’m learning as much about sharing knowledge as I am teaching.

I still feel the nerves. I also have experience worth sharing, and I’m learning to trust my voice.

“Why didn’t I choose a higher amount?”

When we arrange insurance, sometimes we look at the monthly premium first and say:

“Just give me the minimum.”
“I just want something in place.”
“I don’t think I need that much.”

But Critical Illness Cover shouldn’t be chosen simply as an amount that’s “just there.”

The level of cover should be considered properly, based on your personal circumstances.

Amazing meeting today with Shaun Riley, Key Account Manager at Cirencester Friendly.

We had a really valuable conversation around the importance of Income Protection, the different features available, and how the right cover can make a real difference when a client is unable to work due to illness or injury.

We also discussed the importance of understanding the finer details behind each product — not just the price, but the benefits, deferred periods, flexibility and added value available to clients.

For me, good protection advice is about understanding the person behind the policy and making sure the recommendation fits their real needs.

Over the years as an adviser, I’ve seen many claims.

But one story has always stayed with me.

A 7-month-old baby was diagnosed with cancer and spent months in hospital.

The family had two other children at home. Mum stayed in hospital with the baby, while dad was trying to hold everything together at home.

For a period of time, neither parent was in a position to work normally.

Thankfully, they had the right protection in place with MetLife.

Both parents were able to claim. They received a payout following their child’s cancer diagnosis, alongside hospitalisation benefit for the eligible time their baby spent in hospital.

It didn’t change the diagnosis.
It didn’t take away the fear.
It didn’t make what that family was going through any easier emotionally.

But it did take away a significant part of the financial burden at a time when money should have been the last thing they needed to worry about.

We are incredibly fortunate to have the NHS in the UK, but while medical treatment may be covered:

The mortgage doesn’t stop.
The bills don’t stop.
Food, travel and everyday expenses don’t stop.
And sometimes, parents simply cannot work.

This is one of those claims that has stayed with me throughout my career because it shows what protection can actually mean in real life.

Insurance is never just about a policy document or a monthly premium.

Sometimes, it gives a family one less thing to worry about during one of the hardest periods of their lives.
