The current interest rate remains at 3.75%, but the Bank of England said they may have to increase this rate due to high energy prices as a result of the US-Israel war.

Unfortunately, this spills into mortgage rates too - with the average two-year fixed rate being at its highest since 11th May (5.77%) according to Moneyfactscompare.co.uk.

According to BBC News, household energy prices are set to rise by £276 per year in January 2027 - that's a 16% increase.

Two years on from the £90 Debt Relief Order (DRO) fee being scrapped, the Insolvency Service is urging thousands to claim their money back if they paid between 2016 and April 2024, but did not submit their application.

They have written to everyone affected, but if your contact details have changed since 2016, you may not be aware of the refund you are due.

Around £450,000 is available in refunds, but you must submit your claim before the end of this year by contacting [email protected] 📩
