🚨 Corporate “Crime” Alert… But for a Cause That Truly Matters 🚨
Some of you may have heard that two of our own Nadia Goodchild and Rob Brittain have recently been “arrested” for serious workplace offences.

The charges?
• Nadia – Talking too loudly and excessive use of paper.
• Rob – Repeatedly saying “can we just look at…” and overuse of emojis.

While their crimes may be questionable, their release depends on something very real- raising £1,000 for an incredible charity.

This fundraiser is in support of East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH) a charity that provides vital care and support to children and young people with life-threatening conditions, as well as emotional and practical support for their families.

It’s hard to comprehend the reality many of these families face. The need for specialist nursing care, respite support, and compassionate end-of-life care is something no parent ever expects. Yet for some, it becomes their journey.
EACH helps families make precious memories, access expert care, and find strength during unimaginably difficult times.

So while we’re having a bit of fun with the “corporate crimes,” the impact behind this fundraiser is serious and meaningful.

Health and Safety is non-negotiable and foundational to the way we operate. The Councils, Authorities and their delivery partners across the East of England play a key role in striving to achieve the safest road network.

To support our partners, we made the decision in February to invest in the Samsara platform with both forward and dual facing AI dashcams to embed safer driving practices across Highway Assurance.

Business change never comes without challenges especially when rolling out a technology solution across 150 vehicles and 200 operatives, but to go from a procurement process to contract to a full-scale implementation across 8 weeks is a hugely impressive team effort.

In our first month of full deployment, we had 3 drivers with a 100% driving score, the following month 68. As one of the team mentioned "initially I thought it was head Office wanting to watch us, but I've come to value it. I realised some of my bad driving habits were consistent with the way I was driving when I had my two young children in the car, and that scared me".

On a personal note, Rob Brittain mentioned "a lot of my early career was looking at technology in cars from the introduction of Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi and cameras into infotainment and telematics solutions. It is great to see this technology come to life in a business platform that will add significant value in the way we plan, operate and improve our ways of working in a safe, effective and sustainable manner".

It gives me great confidence that at HA we continue to develop a culture where we listen, learn and act to support the vision of creating the safest road network.”

From smooth finishes to improved road durability, our team delivered precision, safety, and efficiency every step of the way. Whether it's for vehicles or pedestrians, this upgrade enhances access and elevates the overall experience in our local town.

Highway Assurance were delighted to discover that one of our operatives Leon Brown recently received a gold award from one of our valued clients for going the extra mile.👏🏽✨

Leon noticed that an elderly Gentleman was having issues with his mobility scooter and rather than just sitting back and watching he took action, helping the man by giving him a lift back to his house. Leon also managed to recover the broken-down mobility scooter by carefully loading it onto his vehicle and securing it.

Leon commented ‘We noticed the gentleman and wanted to help, he was elderly and seemed distressed. His scooter had broken down so we asked if he wanted us to try and get his mobility scooter on our van and give him a lift home and he was grateful that we offered. We didn’t do this for any award or recognition, just in the hope that if we need some help one day someone will be there to lend a hand’.

Its selfless acts such as these that really make a difference to peoples lives and it was wonderful to have one of our operatives representing Highway Assurance with such good values and humility.

🚦Lighting up the Future with Highway Assurance!🚦

Highway Assurance are excited to announce the arrival of our latest purchase within the Traffic Management department. With massive investment into our new traffic lights, pedestrian lights and associated infrastructure improvements within our depots. This is a massive milestone for Highway Assurance and brings a whole host of benefits across the TM department. In particular, the addition of on board charging eliminates almost all requirements for manual handling providing our operatives with a safer asset to utilise on the road. SRL provide a tried and tested product and we are delighted to have agreed to partner with them on this.

Within our depots we have installed charging docks in our newly built traffic light warehouse and we are currently implementing a plan to install solar panels which will charge the lights up in an environmentally friendly way.

The SRL tracking system provides our team of project mangers live feedback on traffic system status and gives us an operational head start when checking for issues or responding to queries. We couldn’t be happier with our latest purchase and were looking forward to seeing them in action!!

This day holds special meaning for us, as several members of our team are proud ex-servicemen and women. Their dedication, discipline, and leadership continue to inspire everything we do, both on and off the road.

On Friday we kicked off the bank holiday weekend by firing up the BBQ and took a well-deserved break to celebrate the incredible hard work and dedication of our entire team. From the Operatives to office teams, everyone plays a role in keeping things moving and Friday was all about showing our appreciation.

We are delighted to announce that Rob Brittain has joined Highway Assurance as Managing Director.

Rob has been involved in the business in a Non Exec capacity since its inception, helping to write our first strategic plan and financial reports several years ago.

He brings with him a wealth of experience running International and National teams across various industries. Rob is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and joins us from FTSE250 company Drax Plc, where he recently led Opus Energy formally one of the largest B2B energy suppliers in the UK. His extensive experience in Finance, Technology and Utilities combined with his background in Strategy, M&A and Leadership comes at a critical time for Highway Assurance.

Chairman, Simon Marsh commented 'I've been trying to get Rob to join for a number of years. His integration will be seamless as he is already respected by our management team. His experience of building, transforming and leading businesses, combined with a personal commitment to developing talent and broad experience will 'upskill' our organisation in a number of ways. It is exciting to have him join".
