va Reading Red Kitchen:

πŸ™Œif you find this shocking: today is the day of action against NAACS - the parent company of ClearSprings, who let children go without while they profit - find out how to get involved below:

https://www.facebook.com/events/229602955474737

πŸ‘ŠOne small-minded response we get when collating data and platforming migrant structures is "what about our own":
- Since when were migrants not human and part of our community?
- Red Kitchen has very close collab with Sadaka, Whitley CDA, New Beginnings, sharing resources all the time
- Reading Red Corner, the boxing club this kitchen came from, runs monthly foodbank collections, homeless food support and was one of the founding groups behind Reading Mutual Care for the Corona Virus where we supported 1000s of vulnerable Readingites with medicine and food

We want everyone to be comfortable and treated with dignity, regardless of where they're from.

Not as a charity, not with any help from political parties, we helped thousands of vulnerable people in Reading this year - and we've donated the excess of donations to two incredible orgs, New Beginnings Reading and Whitley CDA - absolute heroes who'll need everyone's continued support! Of course there are others, like Reading Red Kitchen supporting asylum seekers as a solidarity group, The Weller Centre and more, get in involved with them all!

From Reading Red Kitchen:

Lockdown is horrific. Imagine facing this rubbish after fleeing your home, war, perilous journey and now mistreatment in the UK. We've had almost 30 new arrivals in 2 weeks. We're only grassroots so need your help!

Please give us:

πŸ™ Mens 32 and 34 jeans and joggers
πŸ™ Men's and women's small and medium coats
πŸ™ Backpacks
πŸ™Women's size 4 and 5 winter boots
πŸ™ All genders small and medium hoodies

And even mens medium pyjamas and sports clothes, women's hair bands, would be a lovely treat!

Please comment before committing, we can't accept anything not explicitly agreed as we don't have storage!

🌼it's been a massive journey for us, but for now, we are on pause - ready to be active again as soon as any similar lockdown occurs

we've guided all our regular service users to supermarkets and services who can support them, and many have found they don't need us anymore

any excess money from our Gofundme will go to Whitley CDA and New Beginnings Reading ❀️

please remember no political party, no organisation, no official charity did this as Reading - we did - a completely grassroots community response 🌼

a grassroots local initiative that needs our solidarity! this is our community, full stop - so let's pitch in and support one another the way we have during lockdown πŸ’ͺ

β˜”in the last 5 days we've had 7 newcomers - we ensure every asylum seeking migrant gets hot food, clothes, toiletries, a chat and when we can and if they need, an electronic device to reach family πŸ™

We have no funding, we are a solidarity group, and we need your help - so please:

πŸ₯— Cook for us or contact restaurants to donate meals - DM us or comment for details

⚠️ We always need *used* tablets and smartphones, luggage trolleys, backpacks, *new and closed* underwear and toiletries, baby food and wipes

πŸ™ Donate to us - we rely on the community, so DM us for the PayPal link
