📝 Right to rent checks always bring up lots of questions. If your a landlord managing your own property this is one of the legislations you need to make sure you get right, and it can need constant checks throughout the year. Not only at the start of the tenancy.

⭐️ The right to rent temporary checks which were introduced in March 2020 no longer apply. As of 30 September 2022 the rules have changed.

⭐️ There are now three ways to check a tenant’s right to rent. These are:

💠 A home office online right to rent check;

💠 A right to rent check using Identification Verification Technology (IDVT) through an Identity Service Provider (IDSP) being a third party who has been certified and approved by the Home Office.

🏡 Condensation has always been a big problem in rental properties but it could get a lot worse if tenants are being careful with their energy bills and limiting the amount of time the heating is on.

✅ It is important to take steps to tackle condensation by making it clear at the start of any tenancy ways to help prevent condensation.

✅ Condensation is not a hazard for the Housing Health and Safety Rating system and is unlikely to be a serious defect in the property that would give rise to a claim under the fitness for Human Habitation legislation.

✅ Despite this, condensation can lead to issues relating to damp and mould growth, both of which could be considered under the aforementioned pieces of legislation.

✅ At the start of every managed tenancy we supply a useful condensation guide and explain practical ways of tackling condensation.

🤩 A few basic steps to limit condensation can be:

⭐️Keep your home well ventilated.
