A few days have passed since the leaked Budget and, as usual, the headlines focused more on the leak being leaked than the substance itself. The dust settles, the hot takes cool, and yet the collective theme online remains familiar. Negativity. People isolating the one paragraph they dislike and building an entire argument around it.
Somewhere along the way we forget that Budget changes are not designed to be popular. They are designed to be delivered with conviction and with the wider public interest in mind. You can disagree with the choices or support them, but on balance this was a steady Budget with no major curveballs.
So did she get it right or wrong? The honest answer is that, for most people, it doesnโt really matter. What matters is how you operate inside your own bubble: maximising what you can control, working with the right professionals, and positioning yourself sensibly for whatever comes next. Change is coming regardless of who holds power.
It is no different to training in the gym. You donโt get fitter by debating which machine someone else should be using. You get fitter by focusing on your own form, your own plan, and the equipment that genuinely moves you forward.
The UK economy is in its own period of rehab. The needle will rebalance. There will be progress all the same, whether that comes under Labour or the Conservatives. Stay focused, stay adaptable, and most importantly stay positive. Better conditions always follow good discipline.
