🔥 This really made me think…

I took my dogs out for their usual little stroll at lunchtime yesterday near my office and came across this devastating scene on the local heathland.

It’s crazy to see how quickly something like this can happen, but it got me thinking about how terrifying it must have been for some local residents seeing huge flames from their windows. 😬

And then my mortgage brain kicked in… 😂

INSURANCE.

It made me wonder… how many homes are actually properly insured?

If you have a mortgage, your lender will normally require you to have buildings insurance in place. But what about everything inside your home?

How many homeowners have buildings insurance but no contents insurance?

And what about renters? How many people insure their belongings?

Because if your home went up in flames tomorrow, how much would it actually cost to replace EVERYTHING?

Your clothes 👗
Your TV 📺
Your furniture 🛋️
Your kitchen equipment 🍳
Your jewellery 💍
Your children’s belongings 🧸
All those little things you don’t even think about…

Could you afford to replace it all?

I’m not even going to lie… my first thought was my wardrobe! 😂😅

We had a fantastic time attending the Swanage and Wareham Rugby Club sponsors’ lunch recently. The atmosphere was brilliant and everyone was incredibly welcoming.

It was great to have Lisa along with me and enjoy the day together, followed by watching one of the matches, and then being joined by her family for some laughs after the game 🤩

I just want to take a moment to give a huge shoutout to Lisa, the backbone of my business.

Anyone who runs their own business will know that things simply don’t run smoothly without the right support behind the scenes and honestly, without Lisa, I couldn’t do what I do, personally and with MS Mortgages.

From keeping everything organised, chasing what needs chasing, calming the chaos (mainly because I have booked too much 😅), and making sure my clients are always looked after, she does it all (and usually without me even needing to ask!).

Yesterday at BNI (my regular networking group), we mixed things up. David Richmond-Coggan from the RNLI was tasked with presenting my business entirely in his own way, and it was great (and emotional) to hear how someone else sees what I do 🥰

Fixed or Variable Rate – which is better? 🤷🏼‍♀️

🔒 Fixed Rate = Your monthly payments stay the same for a set period (great for budgeting)

📉 Variable Rate = Can go up or down depending on the Bank of Englands base rate … good if rates drop, risky if they rise)

Both have pros and cons, the best option really depends on your goals and risk comfort.

I have saved many clients THOUSANDS of pounds on tracker mortgage products because I really do take the time to understand what they’re trying to achieve in the long run!

Mortgage Myth #1:

“You need a 10% deposit to buy a home.”

❌ Not true! There are options with as little as 5% deposit (or as little at £5,000!!!) for first-time buyers, home movers and second residential purchases.
