Compound interest, percentages and charging rates can all seem like a lot of financial jargon; 2.5% doesn’t sound that different to 1.3% - but it is! Actually, a difference in charges of 1.2% on a £200k pension pot over twenty years with a 6% per annum growth rate can result in the client having an extra £100k in their final pension – that’s huge!

NO.2 FINANCIAL ADVICE IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE CLIENT
Changes to the SRA Principles in Autumn of 2018 stated that solicitors’ referrals for financial advice must be to an Independent Financial Adviser, not one who is tied to a limited portfolio, and must also ‘be in the best interest of the client’, not the law firm. Solicitors therefore need to be wary of IFA’s charging for their work based upon a percentage of the size of the pension credit to be invested rather than the work involved.
At The Pension Sharing Service we understand that every penny counts in a divorce. We are independent and offer low charges for implementing the pension sharing order. We charge a fixed fee of £795 for the first pension and £150 for any subsequent plans. No matter the size of the pension the work to implement the order remains the same. Although the client will have the option of paying us directly, in most cases, clients prefer for us to be paid our fee out of the pension fund (as an adviser charge). We are confident that our approach is indeed ‘in the best interest of the client’.

Here at The Pension Sharing Service we understand the importance of offering the best value for money to our clients, so we've carried out some research and found out what really matters to them.

The first thing we found from our research was that clients want reasonable and fair costs. They do not want to pay £1000’s just because they have large fund values.

To comply with this, The Pension Sharing Service will charge low fixed fees, regardless of the value of the investment; £695 for the first pension and £150 for subsequent transfers.
