Many people think that a missed payment, default or low credit score means they can't get a mortgage. In reality, every lender looks at applications differently, and your credit history is only one part of the picture.

Whether you're a first-time buyer, moving home or looking to remortgage, there may still be mortgage options available depending on your circumstances.

Lenders will often consider things like:
✔️ How recent any missed payments were
✔️ How you've managed your finances since
✔️ Your income and affordability
✔️ Your overall financial position

The key is understanding what's realistic before you start applying.

If you're worried your credit history could affect your mortgage, don't rule yourself out before you've spoken to a mortgage broker. Sometimes it's simply a case of finding the right lender. Other times, putting a plan in place now can help you achieve your goals sooner than you think.

Over £3,200 saved for clients this week... and that's before they've even completed on their mortgages.

One thing many people don't realise is that my job doesn't stop once a mortgage application has been submitted.

I continue to monitor lenders' rates right up until completion. If a lender reduces their rates and it's possible to amend the application or mortgage offer, I'll always look to secure the lower rate for my clients.

This week alone:

✔️ One client will save £1,104

✔️ Another will save £667.44

✔️ Another will save £1,496.40

That's over £3,200 saved simply by keeping a close eye on the market.

Not every lender allows rate reductions after an offer has been issued, but where they do, I'll always check.
