Sofa cleaning in Warmington, near Peterborough

Today we were in Warmington, just outside Peterborough, carrying out a professional sofa clean.

We were fortunate with access on this job. We could park our van directly outside the property and feed our hoses through a convenient side window, allowing us to work efficiently without bringing noisy machinery into the customer’s home.

This is one of the major advantages of our powerful van-mounted Airflex Storm 800 cleaning system.

All the main machinery stays safely inside our vehicle, with only the cleaning hoses entering the property. This means:

* No large machinery taking up space inside your home.
* No noisy extraction equipment running indoors.
* Powerful professional hot water extraction.
* Excellent extraction performance to help remove moisture and speed up drying.
* A more convenient and less disruptive cleaning process.

Of course, not every property is quite as straightforward!

Sometimes parking restrictions, narrow driveways, long distances from the property or difficult access mean we have to think carefully about where we position the van and how we route our hoses.

Having the right equipment and experience means we can adapt to different properties and access arrangements.

Another sofa brought back to a cleaner, fresher condition using professional equipment and 30 years of cleaning experience.

POWERFUL SOFA CLEANING EQUIPMENT – RIGHT HERE IN STILTON!

Here’s our professional van-mounted Airflex Storm 800 in action on a job in Stilton, near Peterborough.

We invest in powerful professional equipment because the right machinery matters when it comes to cleaning carpets and upholstery.

But one of the biggest advantages is that our main extraction machine stays inside our van, outside your home.

✅ Powerful professional hot water extraction
✅ Helps remove embedded dirt and everyday soiling from suitable upholstery
✅ Less bulky equipment inside your home
✅ Reduced noise and disruption indoors
✅ Professional equipment operated by an experienced cleaning specialist

Our van-mounted system allows us to bring professional cleaning power to your doorstep without having to set up the main extraction machine inside your property.

We also take care to assess every sofa before cleaning, selecting a suitable method for the fabric. Delicate upholstery needs particular attention, and not every material should be cleaned in the same way.

Parker Knoll Suite Cleaning – Maxey, Near Peterborough

Another Parker Knoll suite professionally cleaned in Maxey, near Peterborough.

Quality upholstery such as Parker Knoll needs the right approach. Before cleaning, we carefully inspected the suite and checked the manufacturer’s information so we could choose the most appropriate cleaning method for the fabric.

Over time, upholstery naturally builds up body oils, everyday dirt, dust and general household soiling, particularly on the areas that receive the most use.

Using our professional upholstery-cleaning equipment and carefully selected cleaning solutions, we were able to deep clean the fabric while carefully controlling moisture levels.

One of the biggest mistakes with upholstery cleaning is treating every sofa in exactly the same way. Different fabrics require different cleaning solutions, temperatures, moisture levels and techniques. Proper inspection and testing are therefore an important part of achieving a safe and effective result.

🧼 **WHAT MAKES A PROFESSIONAL CARPET CLEAN? IT'S NOT JUST THE MACHINE!**

Professional carpet cleaning starts with choosing the correct cleaning chemistry.

Different carpets require different approaches. A heavily soiled synthetic hallway is very different from a delicate wool carpet.

At Longueville Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning, we use professional pre-sprays including:

🔵 **S.P.M Atlantic Breeze** – general carpet cleaning and suitable wool and synthetic fibres.

🔴 **Shockwave** – demanding organic and food-related contamination.

🟠 **Blaze** – greasy, oily and heavily soiled synthetic carpets.

🟡 **Lemon Vibe** – difficult sticky and oily contamination on suitable synthetic carpets.

We allow the correct solution time to work before using our powerful **Airflex Storm 800 van-mounted hot water extraction system** to remove loosened soil and cleaning residues.

We don't believe in unnecessary aggressive brushing. We prefer the right chemistry, patience, controlled temperature and powerful extraction.

With 30 years of experience, we understand that professional carpet cleaning is about knowledge, technique and protecting your carpets.

Two armchairs professionally upholstery cleaned in Market Deeping

Today’s job took us to Market Deeping, Peterborough, where these two striped fabric armchairs were in need of a thorough professional clean.

With the weather being particularly kind today, we were able to clean the chairs outside in the customer’s garden, which provided excellent ventilation and airflow while they dried.

This can be a real advantage when cleaning upholstery.

Professional upholstery cleaning introduces moisture into the fabric, so controlled and efficient drying is an important part of the cleaning process. Good airflow helps moisture evaporate more quickly, reducing the time the upholstery remains damp and helping the chairs return to normal use sooner.

Cleaning upholstery outside also gives us much better working space and allows the fabric to benefit from natural air movement. However, professional judgement is still important — upholstery shouldn’t simply be left soaking wet in direct sunlight. The fabric, weather conditions and drying requirements all need to be considered.

These chairs responded really well to the professional cleaning process, bringing the colours and appearance of the striped upholstery back to life.

At Longueville Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning, we provide professional sofa and upholstery cleaning in Market Deeping, Peterborough and surrounding areas, including delicate and specialist fabrics.

With 30 years of experience, professional equipment and specialist upholstery cleaning solutions, we know that different fabrics need different cleaning methods.

Faux Suede Corner Sofa Cleaning in Yaxley, Peterborough

A nice easy job for a Friday morning in Yaxley, Peterborough — professionally cleaning this large faux suede corner sofa.

Faux suede upholstery like this is typically polyester-based, making it one of the more straightforward types of upholstery to clean professionally.

From an upholstery cleaner’s point of view, these sofas are often a pleasure to work on. Polyester fibres are generally durable and respond extremely well to the correct professional cleaning process, allowing fantastic results without the complications that can come with some delicate natural fabrics.

The key is still using the correct cleaning solution, dilution, temperature and extraction technique for the particular upholstery.

This sofa was a great example of how well a synthetic upholstery can respond when it’s cleaned professionally using the right equipment and process.

At Longueville Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning, we’ve been professionally cleaning carpets and upholstery for 30 years, from straightforward polyester and faux suede sofas to delicate and specialist fabrics that require a much more controlled approach.

🧼 Specialist Velvet Chesterfield Sofa Cleaning – Alwalton, Peterborough

Another specialist upholstery cleaning job completed in Alwalton, Peterborough, involving this beautiful pair of velvet-style Chesterfield sofas.

Chesterfield furniture like this can be particularly difficult and time-consuming to clean properly. The deep buttoning, folds, heavy pile and large surface area create plenty of areas where soil and body oils can become embedded.

With velvet and other delicate upholstery fabrics, the cleaning method matters just as much as the cleaning solution.

Before starting, we assess the fabric and carry out appropriate testing. We then select the correct cleaning solution, dilution, water temperature and extraction technique for the particular upholstery.

Using excessive heat, too much moisture or an unsuitable chemical can potentially cause problems with delicate fabrics, including colour bleeding, dye migration, pile distortion, watermarking, shrinkage or damage to the fabric.

That’s why specialist upholstery cleaning isn’t simply a case of spraying a sofa and extracting it.

For these Chesterfield sofas, the process involved careful preparation and detailed cleaning around the buttons, seams, folds and deep upholstery, while controlling the amount of moisture used and extracting as thoroughly as possible.

The result is beautifully refreshed upholstery while retaining the character and appearance of these stunning Chesterfield pieces.

⚠️ This is why DIY carpet cleaning can sometimes create more problems than expected…

We came across this post from a homeowner who had cleaned their front-room carpet themselves using a Rug Doctor.

The carpet felt dry, but shortly afterwards one area developed a very strong lingering odour, described as smelling like damp clothes, mould and body odour.

They tried towels, opening the windows, heating, white vinegar and water, and then carpet deodoriser — but the smell was still there.

This is something we regularly explain to customers:

A carpet can feel dry on the surface without being completely dry throughout.

When a carpet is cleaned incorrectly, too much moisture is used, extraction isn’t sufficient, or contaminated areas are not properly treated, unpleasant odours can develop or return after cleaning.

And simply adding more deodoriser doesn’t necessarily solve the underlying problem — it can sometimes just mask the odour temporarily.

Professional carpet cleaning isn’t just about putting water and detergent into a machine. The amount of moisture, extraction, cleaning solution, carpet construction and type of contamination all matter.

If you’ve used a Rug Doctor or carpet cleaning machine yourself and you’re now left with a persistent smell, don’t keep adding different products to it.

The problem may need to be assessed properly before any further treatment is carried out.
