Behind the scenes: We're excited to bring Kate Brundrett to the Brougham Hall community, starting this month to support our business development, events and marketing. Yey!
Some of you will know Kate, who's been around the area most of her life - she grew up near Penrith and then went to south for study and work before returning in 2001.
Kate is a visual artist and arts manager - she set up The Cumbria Network when she moved back to bring together the county's creative industries and support their development, she co-founded the FRED festival of place-based art, and curated a few gallery spaces too such as Greystones in Glenridding and The Village Bakery gallery with Lowood Arts. She creates graphics and illustrations for organisations such as Natural England, Cumbria Wildlife Trust, LUNZ (Land Use for Net Zero network) and for the last 8 years has been running The Studio Morland - an Arts & Wellbeing venue just south of Penrith.
She was also a business adviser with ACT (Action with Communities in Cumbria) and A4E, and more recently has retrained as an ICF (international Coaching Federation) Leadership Coach. In this role she supports leaders in international corporations, with Bcorp and purpose-driven founders and business owners who seek to make a positive impact in the world. She also works locally with Cumbria Enterprise on their Accelerator programme, supporting smaller business who are ambitious and seeking support.
Kate is really excited to be joining Brougham Hall - she's been visiting since she was little and has memories of the early days going back to Rona's Smokery and Caroline's jester hats and Mary's early pottery days when she visited with her mum, Jane.
She says she was 'totally over the moon when the Hall was bought out by the artisans and delighted that we had the courage to create a CIC and crowdfund to save it - such a brilliant opportunity and so important for the local area to keep alive both the crafts businesses and the magic that is Brougham Hall.'
Kate’s going to be taking over the day to day business so we can get on with our creative roles, as well as biz development, marketing and fundraising, co-ordinating events and the new Byre space, which is now available for hire.
She's really interested to talk with anyone who is also excited about Brougham Hall, wants to get involved or is interested to come and see the fantastic new Byre room, and will usually be on site on a Monday afternoons. Any enquiries - get in touch on the usual email address [email protected]
