What a week on Energise Africa! All three of our current bond offers are now fully funded, and we're preparing to launch new ones in the coming days.

This means that hundreds of new electric motorbikes will soon be on the roads in Kenya and Uganda, cutting costs for riders and carbon emissions, and thousands of teachers in the DRC will benefit from clean energy connections in their homes, giving them light and access to charging for appliances.

We're delighted to welcome back to Energise Africa with their second bond offer!

Since 2018, Zembo has been powering the switch from petrol boda bodas to clean electric motorbikes across Kampala. They have 1,000+ e-motorcycles already on the road and 50 battery-swapping stations keeping riders moving.

Now they're raising £250,000 to finance the local assembly and delivery of 317 more electric motorbikes, avoiding an estimated 1,974.9 tonnes of CO₂ over their lifetime and cutting riders' operating costs by up to 40%.

🙌 We are very happy to announce that, together, UK investors on Energise Africa have now funded more than £50 million of clean energy access across sub-Saharan Africa. That has helped improve the lives of more than 1.1 million people and avoided over 740,000 tonnes of carbon emissions.

Thousands of people in the UK, investing from as little as £50 from their phones, desks and kitchen tables, have brought clean, affordable energy to more than a million people they will never meet. Solar home systems, green mini-grids, electric bikes and clean cooking, all powered by collective momentum.

A huge thank you to the investors who made it happen, and to the funders and partners who backed the model. We have seen the impact first-hand on the ground; we know it is working, and we are more determined than ever to go further.

We are very pleased to welcome Bboxx RDC back to the Energise Africa platform, following their recent successful bond offer.

The new bond will fund the same project, with investments in this new offer enabling BBOXX to install solar home systems and kits in the homes of 20,000 teachers in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

This means reliable and affordable electricity connections for the people teaching the next generation, along with reduced carbon emissions from replacing kerosene.

In 2017, when Roam launched in Nairobi, there were no electric motorcycles on Kenya's roads. Eight years on, it's building the country's EV future, and thousands of lives have been improved along the way.

This short film, made by Manufacturing Africa, the UK government (FCDO)-funded programme, features Roam's Country Manager Habib Lukaya on how building bikes locally has created jobs, strengthened supply chains, and given investors the confidence to back a homegrown industry as it scales.

And you can be part of it. Investing in the Roam bond puts more electric motorcycles on Kenya's roads, replacing petrol bikes, cutting carbon, and boosting incomes for the riders who depend on them to support their families.

So far: 3,000+ riders have switched to electric, and 3,200 tonnes of CO₂ have been avoided. This bond funds 392 more: a homegrown industry with real momentum behind it. Link in the first comment.

The Ecosafi bond on Energise Africa is about to close, and it's so close to delivering almost 5,000 clean cookstoves to homes across Kenya, at no upfront cost to the families.

For millions of households, cooking still means charcoal indoors: choking smoke, wasted hours, money that's hard to spare. EcoSafi's clean biomass stoves flip that, creating virtually zero smoke, running on fuel far cheaper than charcoal, ~60 hours of cooking time saved a year, and pellets made from agricultural waste rather than felled trees.

Every .electric electric motorcycle is designed, engineered and manufactured in Kenya, by Kenyan people, for Kenyan roads. That means skilled jobs, empowered local suppliers, and a homegrown manufacturing sector proving that clean transport doesn't have to be imported.

To date, Energise Africa investors have already helped put 2,616 Roam bikes on the road. That's 2,600+ riders and entrepreneurs spending less, earning more, and cutting thousands of tonnes of carbon between them, just as the climate emergency makes this growth more urgent than ever.

Great news: the Maskh bond offer on Energise Africa has just been awarded £378,000 in match funding from CEI Africa.

So, for every £1,000 you invest, CEI Africa adds £630, multiplying the impact of every pound toward 19 green mini-grids and clean power for 67,000 people in Nigeria.
