Paul Atterbury: A Life with Books and Antiques.

Paul Atterbury, author and one of the experts from the Antiques Roadshow, will be in conversation with Kate Bateman, antiques expert and bestselling historical romance author.
Come and spend an evening with us and hear about Paul’s incredible life. Paul is a writer, lecturer, curator, historian and broadcaster with an eclectic and wide-ranging interest in the art, architecture, design and history of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Paul is widely known for his many appearances since 1979 on the BBC TV programme Antiques Roadshow. He specialises in the art, architecture, design and decorative arts of the 19th and 20th centuries.
He has written or edited over 50 books on art, antiques, ceramics, silver, sculpture, canals, railways, travel and the First World War. At one point he was Britain’s best-selling railway writer.
Kate is well suited to have a lively, interesting conversation with Paul, as a fine art appraiser, auctioneer, and antiques expert. She is the co-founder of Batemans Auctioneers in Stamford, and regularly appears as an antiques expert on several popular BBC television shows such as Flog It! and Bargain Hunt.

The Oundle Bookshop is open today, following yesterday's huge launch success. So take a few minutes to call in, check out the new layout and fabulous features, and treat yourself to a new book.
I was delighted to see many of the authors featured on the shelves who have had events locally with AIO, so do look out for their books, such as Antony Johnston, Sophie Hannah, Ajay Tegala, Tracy Chevalier, Peter and Lisa Fretwell, to name a few.
Sam will also be stocking books for our forthcoming events; there are fliers in the shop, so if you wish to buy books before the events, do ask about them:

17th December, Paul Atterbury: A Life with Books and Antiques. Come and hear about Paul’s full-on life and career as a writer, lecturer, curator, historian and broadcaster.

Huge congratulations to Sam, his family, and the staff at the Oundle Bookshop for a wonderful, exciting relaunch today. The changes are amazing, so tasteful and beautiful. The children's area is magical and will no doubt be a hit with the younger readers. The shelving and creative lighting really show off the books on display.
It is well worth a visit, and book sales were brisk this morning.

100 Days to Save Wikie & Keijo: France Must Secure Their Safe Future
This is the official petition outlined by activist Seph Lawless:

Wikie and her son Keijo are two orcas whose future remains uncertain following the closure of Marineland Antibes in France. With time running out to secure an appropriate long-term home, their fate has become an urgent animal-welfare issue that extends far beyond the gates of the marine park.

These animals should not be left in prolonged uncertainty while proposals, approvals, and political decisions continue around them. France now has an opportunity—and a responsibility—to ensure that any relocation prioritizes their welfare, keeps this mother and son together whenever medically appropriate, and provides independent oversight throughout the process.

This petition calls on the appropriate French authorities to act transparently and urgently to secure a safe, credible future for Wikie and Keijo.
