Beautiful weather here in Wellow - great timing for Maypole Day! However, as it is going to be so hot, please remember sun cream, hats, sunglasses and to keep hydrated! If you can, please leave your dog at home, although there will be watering places thanks to brilliant local charity Beauty’s Legacy.

Everything’s on track for Maypole Day tomorrow - practising completed, and all the myriad things that need doing are done. Final push with lots of volunteers in the morning, and by midday the maypole green will be transformed.

Wellow Maypole Celebrations 2026 - come and have a great afternoon’s entertainment in our beautiful village. Circus unicyclists, Morris dancing, live music, working model steam engine, vintage tractors, Punch and Judy, children’s swing boats, lots of stalls and games, hot and cold food and drink. Highlight of the event - the children’s procession, crowning of the May Queen and traditional maypole dancing. A quintessential English village festival on your doorstep - see you there!

Maypole Committee members and a group of volunteers are currently getting all the equipment required out of storage ready for Maypole Day tomorrow. Many hands make light work - but it is a bit more taxing in the current weather!

Have you bought a souvenir programme yet? At £3 it’s less than buying a coffee anywhere else! We can’t charge for parking like most events, so this is another way we raise money to help fund future maypole celebrations. If you haven’t got yours yet, please buy one from the programme stall near the bus shelter tomorrow!

It will soon be time to register your children to dance around the maypole at this year’s Wellow Maypole Celebrations (taking place on Late Spring Bank Holiday Monday 25th May).
