Did you realise that in England it is not possible to individually insure a unit within a block?

The entire block must be protected by one policy, the existing buildings insurance may not cover the property during renovation works, therefore you must never proceed assuming that existing insurance will be sufficient.

New findings from GoCompare shows that a large number of property owners are not informing their home insurers of their renovation plans.

The research states that 43% of UK homeowners have carried out major work on their property in the last five years, but 41% of those have not informed their insurer of the changes made, leaving them at high risk of invalidating their insurance policy.
