This one can land you in serious trouble.
Apprentices are legally classed as employees. That means you must have the correct insurance in place to cover them. In the UK, if you employ anyone, including apprentices, you are required to have employers’ liability insurance. Not having it can result in significant fines.
It doesn’t matter if they’re:
● Part-time
● Learning on the job
● Only with you temporarily
They still count.
And it’s not just about ticking a legal box. Apprentices are often less experienced and still learning the ropes, which can increase the risk of accidents on site. If they were to get injured while working for you and you didn’t have the correct cover in place, the financial and legal consequences could be severe.
When it comes to business insurance, there’s a lot of “I think that’s covered…” floating around.
And that’s where things can get expensive.
Give us a bell, and we'll make sure your cover's solid.
