Middle-East War – How does it impact finances?

We were all no doubt shocked by the weekend’s events in the Middle East. The US and Israel launched a full-scale strike on Iran, targeting leadership figures, nuclear facilities, ballistic-missile sites and wider military infrastructure. Iran has retaliated with missile strikes against Israel and US bases in the Gulf.

Our heartfelt sympathies go to those affected, including civilians harmed by strikes and travellers stranded by airport closures in the Gulf region.

It’s only natural to feel uncertain about the impact this could have on markets, your investments, and whether or not you should be taking any action.

While the situation remains fluid and is unsettling, geopolitical shocks of this type are not new, and markets have historically absorbed similar events with volatility typically fading as the situation becomes clearer.

Happy Valentines Day!

- lets spread the love today (and always!)

Remember, spreading the love starts from within. Look after yourself and looking after others becomes SO much easier.

We may not be able to help pamper you but we can certainly help you to look after your financial health now and in the future.

As the 2025/26 tax year draws to a close, now is the time to review how effectively you’re using available allowances.

You might want to make some pension contributions, use your Capital Gains Tax (CGT) or Dividend Allowance; maybe maximise your investments using tax-efficient vehicles, including Individual Savings Accounts (ISAs).

There’s not long until the end of the tax year (5 April 2026), so let’s get organised!

Leaving it all until the last minute can mean missed opportunities, while early planning creates flexibility and control.

Recent Budget announcements and upcoming tax changes make proactive planning even more important. Frozen thresholds, changes to pension taxation and rising dividend taxes mean many households could face higher tax bills without careful preparation.

Tax rules can change and the impact of taxation and any tax relief depends on your circumstances, including where you live.

January 17 is ‘Ditch Your New Year’s Resolution Day’ – a reminder that ambitious goals are great, but life is busy and it’s ok if your resolutions aren’t perfectly on track.

Many of us start the year with high hopes, especially around finances – budgeting, investing and tax planning.

The reality is, sticking to every goal can be challenging and falling behind doesn’t mean failure. Instead of beating yourself up, take a reality check: reassess, adjust and set achievable steps forward. Small, consistent actions often have bigger results than perfection.

If you need guidance to keep your financial resolutions on track, we’re here to help you budget wisely, invest smartly and plan your taxes efficiently.

The New Year has been a busy one for us, so we’ve been a little quieter than usual on our social media channels.

However, we have some important news to share here at Omega Wealth & Finance.

Our final working day before the Christmas break also marked a significant milestone - it was the last working day of our valued colleague and Director, Andrew, as he officially retired from the industry.

After 37 years in financial services, including two periods with us (2008–2009 and 2014 to present), Andrew made the decision to switch off his computer, pack away his calculators, and put down his pens for the final time.

Reflecting on his time with us as a Financial Adviser, Andrew said:
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Omega (and ICF). It was a great group of people who worked hard, played hard and looked after each other. I think we had a strong proposition for clients, and I believe that’s why we have been successful over the years. I shall miss everybody at Omega and wish you all well.”

And Andrew - we will certainly miss you too!

Thank you for your dedication, professionalism, and friendship during your time with us. We wish you every happiness and good health in your well-earned retirement.

From all of us at Omega Wealth & Finance 😊
