Lastnights guest arrived and set up all his astronomy equipment ready for the 4am comet - and the results did not disappoint!! He chose Carrick Little Glamping as he wanted no light pollution and had done his homework on where the best places to stay are for this. He sent me these beautiful pictures along with this very interesting information:
Hi Julie. Had a fantastic night, thanks. You asked for any pictures so here are three which I took last night.
The first is a globular cluster of half a million stars (although it doesn’t look as many).
The second is a planetary nebula, although it’s nothing to do with planets. It is a star which exploded 10,000 years ago and you can still see the shell of glowing gas which is expanding ever since.
The third is the comet which I came here to photograph. The green colour is real, not Photoshopped in any way. It is produced by a chemical called dicarbon.
