Buyers may no longer need to pay for so many searches, sellers may be asked to contribute some costs, and measures could be put in place to stop gazumping and chains collapsing.

Bank of England cuts the base rate by 0.25% to the lowest level for 18 months at 4.5%
Widely expected to see further cuts this year but watch out for inflation ..

This is well worth a read - I like the way that the relationship between the Bank Base Rate and fixed rates is described - well worth a look as it will help anyone thinking about re-mortgaging. Also remember that whilst a headline rate maybe seem good you need to factor in fees.

Halifax is launching an 18-month fixed rate mortgage deal from tomorrow in response to growing demand among borrowers for shorter term deals.
