Congratulations to our ten colleagues who have successfully achieved their Emergency at Work First Aider (EWFA) Certificates!

This marks an important milestone for us, as it was the first EWFA course delivered in house rather than at an external venue. To support the training, a St John Ambulance trainer was brought in to train and assess all attendees.

The course brought together colleagues from both our branch network and Mutual House, demonstrating our commitment to developing skills and sharing best practice across the Society.

By increasing the number of qualified first aiders throughout the organisation, we are helping to ensure that trained first aid support is available across all of our sites when it is needed most.

Well done to everyone who took part and achieved their certification!👏

Last year, we were proud to support a local initiative organised by Nicola Moss of The Business Hub Work Experience CIC, giving young people the opportunity to gain real insight into the world of work.

Throughout the programme, we welcomed students into Mutual House and helped provided hands on learning experiences along with other notable figures from Melton’s community. This gave the students the chance to build confidence, develop new skills and explore potential career paths. It was incredibly rewarding to see their growth, enthusiasm and fresh perspectives in action.

We’re delighted to share that we’ll be continuing our support again this year. Investing in future talent and supporting our local community remains incredibly important to us and we’re excited to welcome another group of students in the weeks ahead.

Stay tuned to see what this year’s programme brings!

May was our Mental Health Focus Month đź’š

Throughout the month, colleagues across the society came together to prioritise wellbeing, support one another and take part in a variety of activities, including:

🧠 Mental Health First Aider sessions
🪑 Chair yoga
🎨 Drawing sessions

⛰️ Summits Up sessions

It’s been fantastic to see so many colleagues getting involved and making time for their mental health. While Mental Health Focus Month may be over, our commitment to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our colleagues continues every day. 💚

Recently we proudly launched Elevate, a new development programme focused on helping our managers and senior leaders continue to grow, learn and develop new skills that will strengthen the support we provide to both colleagues and members.

At the heart of Elevate is a simple goal, making sure we continue evolving as an organisation so we can deliver the very best experience for our members, both now and in the future.

By investing in our people, encouraging fresh thinking and exploring new ways of working, we’re creating opportunities to improve how we support our communities and respond to the changing needs of our members.

It’s been fantastic to see the enthusiasm and engagement from everyone involved so far, and we’re excited to see how the programme develops over the coming months.

This week, we were proud to welcome Summits Up to our Head Office as part of our Mental Health Focus Month đź’š

The session created an open and supportive space for colleagues to have honest conversations about mental health, wellbeing and the importance of supporting one another in the workplace.

A huge thank you to the Summits Up team for sharing practical advice, valuable insights and for the incredible work you do to support mental health across our communities.

At Melton Building Society we know that creating a positive and supportive environment for our people is an ongoing commitment and conversations like these are an important part of that journey.

We’re proud to continue our long standing relationship with Melton in Bloom, a fantastic local charity dedicated to maintaining and improving nature areas across Melton. 🌿

Recently, some of our team once again joined forces with them to volunteer and support a project at the Melton Council building. Helping to remove an old, rotted boat flower bed, cleared and cleaned the surrounding area and helped prepare the space for a brand new display to help brighten the area for the local community.

At Melton Building Society, being present in our community and making a real difference is incredibly important to us. It’s always rewarding to support projects that help keep Melton looking its best for everyone to enjoy.

A huge thank you to Melton in Bloom for the amazing work they continue to do! 🌼

Yesterday we were delighted to welcome 15 sixth form students from Melton Vale Sixth Form College Form to Mutual House for a work experience taster session with our Financial Crime team set up by The Business Hub Work Experience CIC.

The session started with an honest conversation led by our colleagues to share their wisdom and talk through how they achieved the roles they have today. They then set them a creative challenge to design a scam awareness campaign aimed at young people.

Aiming the campaign is more important than you might think, as 16 and 17 year olds are amongst the most targeted when it comes to scams. Therefore, scam awareness isn't just something we owe our members. It's something we owe the next generation too.

Thank you to our wonderful financial crime team, Nicola Moss at The Business Hub Work Experience CIC and Melton Vale Sixth Form College 16 Melton Vale Sixth Form College students helping us create a morning that genuinely matters.

✨ A lovely story from our Melton branch from Easter!

Our “Name the Cow” competition was a big hit, raising an amazing £94.40 for our LOROS Hospice. A big thank you to everyone who took part!

We’re delighted to share that the winning name was Maggie and even more heartwarming, the winner has chosen to donate her prize to Maggie’s Cancer Centre at Nottingham City Hospital. What a wonderful gesture of kindness and community spirit 💛

Here’s a photo of our winner with Maggie, we think it’s safe to say she’s found the perfect home!
