Separate personal & business expenditure by opening a business bank account.

While you are at it, set up a savings account to transfer your tax money on a monthly basis. It isn't such a shock then when the time comes to pay HMRC!

Having separate bank accounts make bookkeeping so much easier!

Are you married or in a civil partnership?
Does one of you earn less than £12,500?
Does one of you earn between £12,501 and £50,000?

If you have answered yes to the above, you can reduce your tax bill by up to £250 per year by signing up for Marriage Allowance. If you earn £12,500 or less, this allowance allows you to transfer up to £1,250 of your Personal Allowance to your husband, wife or civil partner, reducing their tax bill by up to £250 for the 2020 to 2021 tax year. And claims can be backdated to April 2016!
