Are you buying insurance to truly cover your business, or is it seen as just a piece of paper?
I find that too many businesses approach insurance as a compliance exercise. They renew each year, file away the documents, and hope they never need to look at them again. Thats all well and good as no good business really wants to use an insurance policy, because usually something bad has happened when it is called upon. An insurance policy however, should be seen as so much more than a certificate in a drawer, or just for a tick box exercise.
The purpose of insurance is to protect the business you've worked so hard to build. It's there to help your business recover from unexpected events, whether that's a liability claim, property damage incident, a motor accident, or another unforeseen challenge.
The cheapest policy isn't always the best policy. If gaps in cover leave your business exposed when you need the support the most, then that "saving" just to get a piece of paper to secure a contract or to get on site can become incredibly expensive.
That's why it's important to work with a broker who takes the time to understand your business, your risks, and your future plans. Good insurance advice helps ensure you're purchasing protection that responds when it matters most, not simply buying a piece of paper to satisfy a contract, or tick a box.
I believe that insurance should provide peace of mind, enabling business owners to sleep at night, knowing they have the right protection in place.
When was the last time you reviewed whether your insurance truly protects your business, rather than just proving that you have it?
