When women are inspired, they inspire others. 🫶

We had such a brilliant afternoon at the Inspiring Women Awards at The Lowry, celebrating incredible women from across the North West and beyond. From powerful personal stories to bold ambition, every finalist brought something special.

A highlight for us was Lucy Hope, Entrepreneur Award winner, whose work to close the women’s health gap is truly game-changing.

We were also so inspired by the Third Quarter Women finalists - proving it’s never too late to start something new, break barriers and rewrite the narrative.

It was a privilege to sponsor the Community Award, presented by our own Jillian Armstrong, and awarded to the wonderful Kerrie Rimmer. After the heartbreaking loss of her son Max, Kerrie founded Max Trax CIC - a community cycling hub inspired by his love of bikes and adventure. A truly powerful legacy.

We’re proud to support initiatives that empower women, from our partnership with Smart Works to moments like these that celebrate resilience, impact and community.

We recently welcomed members to our first listening event at the King Street branch, right in the heart of Manchester.📍

Members joined us from across Greater Manchester and beyond, coming together as part of the wider Group to share their views on Manchester Building Society and what matters most to them.

The event took place during a two‑day visit from our Executive Team, who spent time in Manchester meeting colleagues, visiting our branch and, most importantly, listening to our members.👂

We heard your questions, priorities and thoughts as we look ahead to the first anniversary of our King Street branch opening and plan for the future.

The insight and enthusiasm shared on the day was so valuable. Thanks so much to everyone who took the time to join us. 🤝

We’re really excited to say that round two of our Manchester Building Society Community Fund grants, in partnership with Forever Manchester, is now open! 🙌

If you spotted the amazing impact our first round of grants had and thought your community could do with a boost too, now’s your chance.

We’re offering up to £2,500 to grassroots community groups in any of the ten Greater Manchester boroughs, as long as your annual income is under £150,000.

This round is all about supporting projects that help with:
Financial literacy - from budgeting tips to managing debt and building money confidence. ✅
Work and education - helping people gain skills, confidence and support to get into (or back into) work. ✅

Deadline to apply is midday, Thursday 14 May ⏰

We had the best time volunteering at Hide Out Youth Zone last week. 💛

Hide Out (the sister site to Salford Youth Zone) is run by the amazing EMPOWER - a charity that gives young people a safe space, fun activities and someone they can trust.

From table football and creative activities to being treated to a yummy lunch, we had an absolute ball.

We always leave feeling inspired by the work EMPOWER do. It’s clear how much this support means to the children, and we’re so happy to play a small part in making it happen.

Already counting down to our next volunteering day. 🙌
