Last week, we had the pleasure of visiting MaxTrax in Openshaw to present Kerrie Rimmer-Chambers with the Inspiring Women Awards Community Award.

Kerrie was unable to attend the awards ceremony, so we went to visit her at MaxTrax - and we're so glad we did.

Created in memory of Kerrie's son Max, MaxTrax has grown into an inspiring community project centred around Max's love of bikes, adventure and the outdoors. Today, it provides a welcoming space where children, families and local residents can get active, learn new skills and spend time together.

During our visit, Kerrie showed us the all-wheel pump track and shared plans for the transformation of the park's former building into a community cafe and cycle repair hub.

We were incredibly moved by the passion and dedication behind the project, and proud to present Kerrie with an award that recognises her outstanding contribution to the local community.

Congratulations, Kerrie, and thank you for allowing us to see the amazing legacy you're building in lovely little Max's memory. 💙🚲

A fantastic day at the Manchester Volunteer Fair last weekend.💙

Our branch team had some great conversations and made valuable connections with people doing incredible work across the community.

It was brilliant to see so much interest in our free-to-use community spaces - open to everyone. We were especially pleased to connect with both Greater Manchester Police and SARA, who were keen to get involved.

We’re now looking at introducing a community noticeboard in-branch, giving local groups a space to share and promote the amazing work they do.

When women are inspired, they inspire others. 🫶

We had such a brilliant afternoon at the Inspiring Women Awards at The Lowry, celebrating incredible women from across the North West and beyond. From powerful personal stories to bold ambition, every finalist brought something special.

A highlight for us was Lucy Hope, Entrepreneur Award winner, whose work to close the women’s health gap is truly game-changing.

We were also so inspired by the Third Quarter Women finalists - proving it’s never too late to start something new, break barriers and rewrite the narrative.

It was a privilege to sponsor the Community Award, presented by our own Jillian Armstrong, and awarded to the wonderful Kerrie Rimmer. After the heartbreaking loss of her son Max, Kerrie founded Max Trax CIC - a community cycling hub inspired by his love of bikes and adventure. A truly powerful legacy.

We’re proud to support initiatives that empower women, from our partnership with Smart Works to moments like these that celebrate resilience, impact and community.
