🚨 URGENT SCAM / FRAUD ALERT 🚨
We are aware of scam emails and WhatsApp messages being sent by third parties falsely claiming to represent The Debt Advice Service and/or Money Wellness.
These fraudulent messages may:
- Claim urgent legal action is about to begin (CCJs, bailiffs, wage deductions)
- Pressure you to act within 24–48 hours
- Ask for sensitive financial information such as credit reports
- Use fake company names and false FCA registration details
- Appear to be from debt collection agencies to seem legitimate.
⚠️ How to protect yourself
- Do not reply to suspicious messages
- Do not share personal or financial information
- Do not click on any links
- Always check email addresses carefully
✅ How we contact you
We will only ever contact you from official emails ending in:co.uk or via SMS from our official systems.
We will NEVER:
- Use Gmail, Hotmail or Outlook addresses
- Request your credit file by email
- Threaten immediate legal action
- Guarantee debts can be “written off” or “discharged”
📢 If you receive a suspicious message
- Report it to Action Fraud
- Check the FCA Register
