If you saw Martin Lewis’s Money Saving Expert programme last night, you’ll know that the year is looking a little more hopeful for homeowners and those wishing to get their first mortgage.
There were a couple of key points which we agreed with:
Forget external circumstances that you cannot control.
Look at where you are now. You cannot control what happens to the markets or any events that may affect them – you can make informed decisions based on your circumstances.
‘Do what is right for YOU and do it intelligently’.
We loved this quote, and it aligns with our values – your circumstances are unique to you, get as much information and advice as you can and make a decision which works for you and your life.
Talk to a mortgage broker.
We have access to acceptance criteria and information you don’t. We would absolutely agree with this. Also, there are some deals only we can access, so it makes sense to talk to us or another advisor.
We would add that although predictions are looking hopeful in terms of interest rates coming down a little, no one can be certain. These are predictions only and don’t consider any changes in world, or local events which could affect our economy.
Our advice?
Like Martin said, do what is right for you and get professional advice from a mortgage advisor such as ourselves which is right for you and your circumstances.
If you’d like to discuss what might be right for you then drop me a message or give me a call.
