📈 The Bank of England base rate changes often makes the headlines, but it’s a common misconception that this directly affects fixed-rate mortgages. If you’re on a tracker mortgage, your rate will usually move in line with base rate changes. However, if you’re on a fixed-rate deal, nothing changes until your fixed term ends. And if you’re looking for a new fixed-rate mortgage, today’s base rate decision is only one small part of the picture—fixed rates are mainly driven by market expectations and swap rates, so lenders have often already priced in anticipated base rate changes.
