The Bank of England has held interest rates at 4% in a tight vote, saying UK inflation has peaked but it’s too soon to cut rates.

💷 Inflation: 3.8%, expected to fall near 3% next year
📉 Growth slowing, unemployment seen rising to 5%
🏦 Rates expected to fall gradually over time.

📣 Bank of England Base Rate Holds at 4% – What This Means for Mortgages & Remortgages

The Bank of England has just announced that the base rate will stay at 4%. No movement (for now!), but what does this mean if you’ve got a mortgage — or are thinking about remortgaging?

🏡 On a variable or tracker mortgage?
Your payments won’t go up this month, which is good news. But with rates still relatively high compared to recent years, it's worth checking if you could save by switching.

🔁 Coming to the end of a fixed deal?
Now’s a great time to start reviewing your options. Lenders have already priced in a 4% base rate, so we’re seeing some competitive fixed deals returning to the market.

📝 Thinking of remortgaging early?
With no base rate rise today, it's a good opportunity to explore locking in a deal before any future changes — especially if you're worried about rate rises down the line.
