I am so pleased to share our next guest on the Femme & Fortune Podcast: Kim Innes founder of Humble Crumble.

Kim had the idea for a crumble bakery while sitting in her student bedroom in Brighton.

She moved back in with her parents, bought second-hand equipment and started selling at farmers markets.

So what do we do between now and the 28th October?

You don’t panic. You don’t make big decisions based on rumours.

But you do get ready, so that whatever lands, you’re not scrambling.

Use every allowance you already have.
Your £20,000 ISA.
Your £9,000 JISA.
Your pension contributions.

Because if changes come, current allowances tend to get grandfathered or protected in some way.

What’s used today is generally safer than what’s still on the table tomorrow.

Look at where your money actually sits.

Cash that isn’t beating inflation is quietly shrinking.

Old workplace pensions you’ve forgotten about might be in the wrong funds. Investment accounts outside a tax wrapper might be sitting up for CGT.

Do the audit now while there’s time to act.

If you own a business or you’re due a big capital event (selling something, taking dividends, exercising options), talk to an accountant before the Budget.

This is genuinely the moment where good advice pays for itself many times over.

And if you’ve been meaning to sort your pension out for years, please stop putting it off.

Whatever changes come are much easier to navigate from a position where you actually know what you have.
