Pre-Seed Funding Explained

Pre-seed funding is the earliest stage of fundraising where founders turn a raw idea or a rough prototype into a viable business model.

At this point, the company usually has little to no revenue and is operating on a skeleton crew. Founders typically use these initial funds to hire a core team, finalize product development, and find their first customers. Because the risk of failure is incredibly high, investors look at the passion and capability of the team rather than financial metrics.

Funding usually ranges from $50,000 to $500,000, though highly competitive tech startups can sometimes raise significantly more.

The capital traditionally comes from the founders' own pockets, friends and family, equity crowdfunding, or specialized angel investors.
