Our panel includes:

- Orestis Omran, Partner, DLA Piper

- Stavros Kokkinis, Senior Executive, Angel Investor & Advisor

- Vasiliki Konstanteli, Investment Banker, UBS

On 2 December, Hellenic Bankers Association (HBA) UK welcomed members in a full-house Christmas Soirée, for an evening of thoughtful dialogue and professional networking.

In the bespoke setting of L'oscar London, we welcomed Alex Patelis for a fireside discussion on his newly published “Greece’s comeback: How a nation regained credibility”, exploring how credibility is rebuilt - from the strategy behind the comeback and the role of a technocrat in public service, to Greece’s economic narrative and the country’s evolving strategic role in a changing world.

The conversation, chaired by HBA UK Chairman Xenofon Zacharoudis, was enriched further by insights shared during the evening by Christos Megalou, CEO, Piraeus Bank, and Christina Papaconstantinou, Deputy Governor, Bank of Greece and member of the European Central Bank Supervisory Board. Their insights brought an invaluable market-and-policy dimension to the conversation, bridging strategic narrative with the practical mechanics of credibility and decision making.

The evening was also a wonderful opportunity to welcome our latest corporate member, Snappi - Greece’s first neobank - to the HBA UK community.

As we head into 2026, we remain committed to bringing together the Greek and Cypriot financial international community for thought leadership and professional connection. Happy New Year.

At a sold-out event co-hosted by the Hellenic Bankers Association - UK and the Hellenic Observatory, LSE, we welcomed Kyriakos Pierrakakis, Greece’s Minister of the Economy and Finance, for an insightful conversation on Greece’s economic trajectory and the next phase of its digital transformation.

The evening opened with remarks by HBA Chairman, Xenofon Zacharoudis, followed by an in-depth discussion with the Minister, moderated by Professor Vassilis Monastiriotis, Director of the Hellenic Observatory.

The occasion carried particular distinction, as it took place just weeks before Minister Pierrakakis’ election as President of the Eurogroup. We are grateful to all who joined us: your questions and engagement made for a thoughtful and substantive exchange. With the event at capacity, we also appreciate the many who expressed interest but were unable to secure a seat.

The 30th Anniversary Gala of the Hellenic Bankers Association (HBA) UK marked the dazzling opening of the last summer’s season. As we now reached its close, it is only fair to relive together some of the unforgettable moments from that captivating evening.

From three continents, distinguished professionals gathered in London to honor the 30-year journey of the Hellenic Bankers Association UK — a journey celebrated in a night of brilliance and splendor. A milestone celebration that showcased the values and traditions of a global community that, for decades, has united the Greek and Cypriot diaspora across the world.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Howden Hellas SA and Kyriakides Georgopoulos Law Firm (KG Law Firm), our Grand Sponsors, as well as Euroxx Securities SA, our Gold Sponsor, for making this unique celebration possible!

For thirty years, this emblematic institution has stood as a beacon of excellence and unity — with vision, mentorship, and leadership. And the journey continues… Many more extraordinary moments lie ahead.

At our 30th Anniversary Gala, amidst elegance, legacy, and connection, one of the moments that stood out was the presentation of our Student Award, delivered by Maria Hatzistefanis: founder and CEO of Rodial Beauty and NipandFab , investor at Dragons' Den Greece, three‑time bestselling author, and a proud voice for ambition and resilience.

The Hellenic Bankers Association (HBA) UK has always been about more than banking - it’s about people, progress, and purpose. For three decades, we have actively supported young professionals and students - not only creating opportunities, but empowering the next generation to seize them, through mentorship, scholarships, internships, and visibility. Thus, our Student Award represents the values we hold highest: effort, character, aspiration, and impact.

This year’s Student Award includes a sponsored unique experience by Askelenatravel, offering not just a journey, but a chance to connect, reflect, and be inspired.

Maria’s message - a powerful reminder that success is built, not given - resonated deeply with our distinguished guests. And with her own journey from Greece to global business leadership, her words carried weight and authenticity.

This year's proud award winner was George Kanavakis, recognized for exploring the increasingly strategic use of financial sanctions in a world shaped by multipolar tensions and fragmented globalization.

🌍 To all young professionals in our global community: We support you, and we’re building the future with you!
