We are the Veterinary Poisons Information Service and Animal PoisonLine. The Veterinary Poisons Information Service (VPIS) is a members only service.

We are a 24-hour telephone emergency service providing information and treatment advice on poisoning cases in animals. We provide direct support to veterinary professionals. VPIS can provide advice on the effects of thousands of toxic substances in all species of animal. Our advice is based on our case database of over 280,000 past cases and extensive resources obtained through research of published data. We constantly refine our advice to ensure we provide the most accurate and up to date treatment advice. Animal PoisonLine is run by the Veterinary Poisons Information Service (VPIS) and is the only 24-hour specialised emergency telephone service in the UK dedicated to helping pet owners who are worried their pet may have been exposed to something harmful or poisonous. It is a triage service, which will let owners know if a trip to their vet is required. Based on the information the owner provides our vets and scientists will be able to tell the owner if they need to attend the vet. The lines are open 24 hours a day. Calls cost £35 between Monday- Friday 8am to 8pm. Calls cost £45 at all other times including bank holidays. We save 7 out of 10 customers and their pets a trip to the vets. Meet Jax 😍
This naughty little ball of fluff ingested some mushrooms that were growing in his owner's garden. 🍄 There are thousands of different species of mushroom that grow in the UK, and some can be incredibly dangerous. 🍄
Luckily Jax's owner was able to email us some photos of the mushrooms and we could get our mycologists to identify them for us.
Based on this information we were able to make a risk assessment for Jax and advise on the best course of action to keep him as safe as possible. 💞
He is still getting up to mischief and giving his loving owners the run around, just as a 12 week old pup should do 😜

These two gorgeous G.pigs are complete and utter food goblins. Their hobbies include eating, demanding more food immediately after eating, and staring dramatically at you until the fridge opens 🥬
Charge and Lemmy tend to operate on one brain cell between them, and their next snack is their main thought! 🤣

🐾 Meet Dottie the Devilish Dachshund 🐾
Dottie decided to help herself to the post while her parents were away on holiday and she was meant to be behaving herself for her dog sitter.
In the post was a bag of Ankhway Mushroom Gummies, and Dottie ate the entire pack of 60!

'She was particularly proud of herself for getting away with it.' said her dog sitter, who luckily called the Animal Poison Line and we were able to look into the ingredients in the gummies she had gorged.

Dottie was deemed safe to stay at home, a toxicity was not expected and she didn't even give herself an upset stomach!

Bellatrix and IO, the sweetest pair of roast chickens you will ever meet 🐔.... just kidding, they are Sphynx cats!
What these two lovable felines lack in fur, they sure make up for in character! Bellatrix is an insistent, persistent and rejection resistant cuddle monster. In her mind, there is nothing more important that giving her the attention she so clearly deserves, even during a heat wave, she demands hugs and love.
IO, her son, is a little more independent, and much more likely to be getting up to mischief. 😈

Meet Karen! 🐔 This little sassy raptor has gone from rescue chicken to household boss in a matter of weeks!
She has an incredible appetite and loves hunting insects and spiders... she would actually be a rather terrifying creature if she were not the size of an over-stuffed door stop.
In her spare time Karen enjoys rolling in the dust, climbing ladders and shouting as loud as she can to anyone who will listen.
Karen's least favourite things are bath time and being told she can't have any more meal worms. 🪱

Amy 😻 the cat and Daisy 🐕 the dog are both rescues, both from different walks of life who have really landed on their paws.
They now spend their casual days snoozing, relaxing, spilling over the edge of the sofa or upside-down with not a care in the world.
Daisy enjoys the occasional countryside walk, just enough to earn another well deserved nap.
Both Amy and Daisy are such gentle and comforting companions, providing silent but puurrrrfect support to their household humans 🥰

Introducing the glorious Twig 💞 We must get one thing clear, Twig is not a dog, she is Management. As far as she is concerned, she is in charge. Twig does not go for walks, she takes organised excursions.
She is an exceptional herder, when it comes to horses, humans, chickens or dogs, but is terrified of sheep. 🐑😱
Twig is incredibly opinionated, and quick to voice these opinions. She loves circles, pizza and riding sh***un in the horsebox, but hates the song Happy Birthday and hand-held power tools, including the mini vacuum.
She's a menace, but so so so loved
