It’s been two weeks since we hosted our first Blended Finance roundtable at 1 Millbank House, House of Lords.
For us, this conversation was personal 🗣️. As many of you may know, one of our very first deals was a blended finance facility. £220k for a church that was close to losing its building after taking on high-cost credit with a bridge loan provider.
£180k in credit and £40k in grants helped protect a community asset and showed us what the right approach can unlock.
Since then, we’ve supported underrepresented founders whether social enterprises or fast-growing startups with little to no options access tens of millions in funding. We’re a very different business today compared to where we started all those years back.
However, the experience with the church that almost lost its building continues to shape how we think about finance: creating equity through fair, affordable and flexible capital by any means necessary.
It’s incredible how the right capital stack can immediately change the trajectory of an organisation.
Thank you to everyone who joined the discussion, and to all the dignitaries, banks and industry leaders who took part. 💚
Onwards and upwards. Our next update is coming soon, don’t forget to sign up to our updates list (link in bio).
