Eight of our Edinburgh team were out litter-picking with the Fountainbridge Canalside Community Trust yesterday, collecting rubbish from the canal, Harrison Park and surrounding areas.

The Union Canal at Fountainbridge is a special place which the trust seeks to help remain a valuable wildlife corridor and an attractive area for recreation and leisure.

An estimated 14 million tonnes of litter ends up in the world’s oceans each year, with plastic making up 80% of all marine debris and posing a huge threat to wildlife – and in turn to humans too.

We work with CleanupUK and Keep Scotland Beautiful to support their efforts to help our environment flourish. Our staff have been litter-picking on Silverknowes beach in Edinburgh and in Southwark Park in London, and they encourage everyone to think about the environment, including unnecessary packaging when buying products and reducing, reusing and recycling wherever possible.

Ten of Artemis' staff spent time volunteering with one of our key charitable partners, City Harvest London, on Friday. City Harvest seeks to reduce food insecurity and protect the planet by diverting quality, nutritious, edible surplus food from waste and redistributing it to those facing food poverty.

Every one hour spent volunteering equals 530 meals delivered to charities feeding their communities, so our team's efforts helped deliver over 21,000 meals.

Lots of our staff have been actively supporting Mental Health Awareness Week, completing multiple fundraising challenges, including simply getting out for some exercise. And in the process, they raised £3,150 for SANE Mental Health Charity, one of the charities our Charitable Foundation supports.

With Pride month approaching, we're very happy to adopt Just Like Us as Artemis' LGBT+ charity.

Growing up LGBT+ is still unacceptably tough. Just Like Us works with schools and young people across the UK, holding talks and running a student-led Pride Groups programme, and its Ambassador Programme trains LGBT+ 18-25-year-olds to speak in schools about the importance of allyship.

Just Like Us, the LGBT+ young people's charity, works with schools and young people across the UK to ensure LGBT+ young people can thrive.

As one of the holiest months for Muslims, marked by a period of fasting, comes to an end, we will be celebrating Eid – "the festival of the breaking of the fast" – with a number of our colleagues.

Five of the Artemis team spent a morning volunteering with homelessness charity Cyrenians in Edinburgh. A longstanding charity partner of the Artemis Charitable Foundation, its FareShare depot redirects surplus food from retailers and suppliers to around 140 charities and food banks in central Scotland for people finding it hard to make ends meet

Cyrenians also runs a cookery school to prepare ready meals for the charities while helping train local people in need of cooking experience.

PS They need more van drivers if anyone would like to volunteer or knows someone who might.
