This morning we hosted a breakfast networking event at our Unity Place offices, bringing together businesses from across the city to support Swindon’s City of Culture bid, in partnership with Swindon Borough Council.

Amy Brettell, Managing Director of Zurich Municipal and Engineering delivered a speech explaining why, as one of Swindon’s largest employers with many of our people living in the area, the bid matters deeply to us. Amy highlighted how culture can drive regeneration, economic growth, place‑making and community pride. Becoming a City of Culture is about more than a year of celebration, it’s an opportunity to shape Swindon’s future and create lasting benefits for our communities.

It’s Dementia Awareness Week 💙

Many people know about risk factors like heavy drinking, smoking, depression and physical inactivity. But did you know research also links dementia risk to:

• Poor quality education in early life

• Uncorrected vision loss

• Hearing loss

• Air pollution

• High cholesterol

• Diabetes

• Obesity

• High blood pressure

Mark Flay, Local Partnership Manager for Zurich Community Trust and Co-deputy Chair for Swindon Dementia Action Alliance and Partnership Manager for Bristol Dementia Action Alliance, is helping to raise awareness so more people can take steps to protect their brain health and support loved ones.

This Dementia Awareness Week, we want to highlight that dementia is now the UK’s biggest killer, yet only one in nine Britons correctly identify it as the country’s leading cause of death.

Yesterday we hosted a truly special and dare we say, “pawsome” business update live from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, one of our valued Zurich Municipal customers, with the relationship managed through our broker partner, Gallagher.

We've proudly worked with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home since 2022, a charity that holds a special place in our hearts. We’re grateful for the meaningful work they do and for the opportunity to support them.

Battersea is a charity that receives no Government funding, which is why, to further support Battersea’s incredible work, we invited colleagues to make donations, and with match funding from Zurich Municipal we have reached almost £3,000 and counting!
