Most leaseholders in the UK are being overcharged—and many don’t even realise it.
I’m currently dealing with tribunal cases where leaseholders are being billed thousands for poor-quality work, unnecessary charges, or repairs they should never have had to pay for in the first place.
And yet the costs still get passed onto the leaseholders.
That’s the problem with the current system.
This is why I launched a petition calling for stronger regulation and enforcement for managing agents and freeholders. The petition calls for licensing, enforceable professional standards, penalties for breaches, and better protection for leaseholders facing unfair costs.

Major works were carried out to the communal hallway and stairs at on of my RTM Blocks, following a full Section 20 consultation and competitive tender process.
The total cost has been fairly apportioned across 6 units.
Final snagging works are being completed, and before-and-after images show the improvement delivered.

Leaseholders are literally paying for this.
Service charges keep going up, repairs take ages, no one tells you what’s going on. Managing agents and freeholders just carry on. And honestly, nothing really happens to them.
Voluntary regulation? Not working.
We need proper rules now, with actual enforcement.

People complain.
Sometimes even upheld.
But nothing actually changes.
