As organisations accelerate AI adoption, one reality is becoming increasingly clear: strong models alone aren't enough. AI is only as effective as the data, governance, and human judgement that underpin it.

To scale AI responsibly and unlock meaningful business value, organisations need trusted data, clear accountability and people with the skills to use AI effectively.

In a recent article, Shebani Baweja, Group Chief Data Officer, highlights why reliable data, proportionate governance and skilled talent are critical to turning AI ambition into real-world impact.

Anchorpoint, our joint venture in Hong Kong with HKT and Animoca Brands, has begun the rollout of HKDAP, its Hong Kong dollar-backed stablecoin.

The initial focus of HKDAP (HKD At Par) in phase one is institutional payments and settlement through Beta Access, with HashKey and OSL now live as authorised distribution partners.

This milestone follows the 香港金融管理局 Hong Kong Monetary Authority granting a stablecoin issuer licence to Standard Chartered and Anchorpoint in April under its new regulatory framework.

Looking ahead, we'll support the continued expansion of the HKDAP ecosystem, including potential broader retail adoption as early as the end of this year.

The launch marks an important step in bringing regulated tokenised money into real-world applications.

By combining trusted financial infrastructure with digital asset innovation, we're enabling more efficient payments and settlement while supporting Hong Kong's ambition to be a leading international digital asset hub.

In his latest article for Gulf Business, Roberto Hoornweg, CEO, Corporate & Investment Bank, Standard Chartered, shares his perspective on the factors shaping the future of global capital and what they mean for the UAE.
