A healthy home is so important. But keeping condensation and mould at bay is more complicated than you think. It is very much a Goldilocks situation with no two properties alike, as no two sets of people live the same way. It comes down to good ventilation and at the same time heating your home well. Build community and improve our urban environment with Mell Street Community Garden in one in East Greenwich.

Great effort from lovely volunteers on Friday, thank you to everyone who helped out or stopped by to chat!
The planting looks lovely and a big improvement to this corner.

We will be looking to re-start the regular Friday afternoon gardening meet-ups starting Friday 21st May around 5pm (probably twice a month).

Kate Faulkner Property Expert "Shockingly, according to the latest Home Office figures* ( analysed by appliances insurer Prominence Support ), there are over 300 fires a week in homes caused by appliances. Whether you own your own appliances or you are letting a property with appliances you have bought, I have found a neat little tool that means that you will be alerted if there is a product recall. You do have to collate a bit of information including, the brand, model number, serial number and ideally approximate date you purchased the appliance (which can up to 12 years old). This can include appliances that were in your home when you moved in, those bought second-hand, or even inherited from family or friends. Once youโ€™ve done this you can head to the Register My Appliance website www.amdea.org.uk and, for free, register the appliances."

Gardens are wonderful. BUT easily fall into disrepair, and become expensive to 'fix'. We always advise highlighting maintenance at the outset to avoid any question of who takes responsibility. Yes, even if it is stated in the tenancy agreement. We often ask the tenants if they might need to hire a gardener, and can then suggest one.

A tip from the NRLA - National Residential Landlords Association
Our advisor also suggested that another solution going forward may be to โ€˜bake-inโ€™ the cost of a gardener into the rent and subsequently pay for the service out of their own pocket. Doing it in this way makes it allowable under the tenant fee ban in both England and Wales, removes the worry of whether the tenant will keep up with the maintenance or not and means that the landlord is less likely to need to recover money from the deposit should the garden be left very unkept and untidy.
